**sorry, originally posted under wrong topic!*
Has anyone tried to re-proof turnout rugs at home? I'm going to try and do a light weight turn out rug myself, if I can patch the holes. What are the "do"s and "don't"s? What do you recommend to wash rug with? What products are best to re-proof? Spray on or wash in? Or just get it done professionally- if so, how much would you expect to pay with 2 4" tears on shoulders to be patched? Sorry about all the questions

You can buy Nik-Wax re-proofing stuff from any outdoor specialist shop (e.g. Blacks, Nevisport, Tiso) or online I guess and can get it in either a liquid form to add into the wash cycle or a spray for after it's been cleaned and dried. I find the liquid easier for re-proofing jackets etc, as I'm more convinced you get an even coating and it's less messy than spraying! (make sure you run a rinse cycle after though to avoid waterproof pants and socks though!

You can get special "breathable" formula so you don't ruin that property of your rug if it's there in the first place.

No idea about cost of repairs I'm afraid!
