And how?!! I was looking into doing either saddlery or going down the equine nutrition route, but quite simply don't have the funds to cut my income that much :( :( How have people managed when they have done retraining/college courses?

Many thanks!

I dont reckon there are many jobs in nutrition but saddlery would probably be a good idea. I think you can do shortened courses in saddlery or part time so maybe you would be able to combine the two for a while.
That way you would be able to see how much business you would get before dropping your other job.
Just an idea!

I'm 27 and currently in my second year at Brack doing an equine degree. Before I had a good job as a marketing analyst but I was really unhappy in my role and wanted to change careers.

Financially its hard, as I went from a good salary to working part time on a lot less money as well paid part time jobs don't seem to exist. I manage because I have a very generous other half who is very supportive and by being careful - you always manage somehow. It is hard if you've been used to earning more, e.g. can only afford one lesson a month if I'm lucky but I'm hoping it will be worth it!!

Hope that helps.

I left a well paid job which I absolutely hated and at 23 started a degree. I'm now doing an MSc in vet physio and qualify next yr, so will finally be doing the job i've always wanted after 5 yrs of training! Financially it was hard, but I saved up before doing the undergrad degree and had a part time job all the way through plus student loan. Def worth it though when I think I could still be stuck in an office doing a **** job that made me miserable!
