Clipped my boy out a few weeks ago and he came up the next day with huge urticaria all over his neck - was obviously very sore as he wouldn't let me groom him or anything which is unlike him. The clippers didn't get hot or anything so I can only think it was the clipper oil - it took over a week to go down.
What can I use next time I clip him?

Check that he isn't allergic to baby oil as well. My lad has the same reaction to clipper oil and baby oil. I use clipper oil but very sparingly and make sure that if any gets on his coat it is removed immediately. He also is washed after every clip.

It takes longer because of the reduced oil so the clippers do get hot quicker, so have to keep taking breaks to cool the clippers down.

I second this my horse is allergic to baby oil was clipped 2 days ago with a different clipper oil than usually .he has come up in a very slight rash all spotty on his neck and face and won't stop head shaking not like him at all . spoke to vet last night and been put on high dose off bute. If no different will be a steroid infection but seems to be improving with bute .
