I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of books to help me with my riding lessons, something that will help me keep what I've done in lesson in my head and give my brain a timely reminder before my next lesson....a memory that is getting old is not a thing of beauty. Something that covers the basics of riding etc.

my instructor asked me a couple of weeks ago what my long term aspirations were, I said to get my position and balance etc back and to eventually hack out, which she said I was safe enough to do now....having thought on this and truly considered the direction I want to go in, I feel I really want to perfect my riding to the point I could try jumping or dressage down the very long road I know it will be. That way I have a goal to aim for and I do like to better my abilities with whatever I do though I don't have a competitive bone in my body, I just like to enjoy what I do. Even though i'm on the mature side ;)
Sorry I've rambled on.

So back on tack I mean track...any recommendations?

I got two bhs books, the complete manual of equitation, which I think is what you are looking for and, the complete manual of horse and stable management . Both very good in depth books , with drawings and easy to understand explanations. You could look on YouTube for videos too, professional riders, watched an interesting one about mastering your canter seat, cannot for the life of me remember who done video... Happy reading and good luck :)
