A mate & I are going taking the horses to the beach for sandy antics tomorrow :D and I've found the tide times, but have no idea how to read them! Here they are:

Time – 02:51 Height – 0.69
Time – 09:07 Height – 10.02
Time – 15.07 Height – 0.93
Time – 21:26 Height 10.08

I'm assuming that this means high tide is around 9am and 9.30pm and low tide just before 3am and just after 3am, so midday-ish would be the best time to go. Am I correct?

High five for answers ;)

Sorry, can't confirm that but have a laugh - I read your post as Reading, the place!! I was wondering how to break the news to you that Reading doesn't have a coastline!! Blush :)

 :) IF that tidetable is for your beach, then it looks like you have all afternoon.
The tide was going out from 09:07 hrs, so you'll have plenty of time until it turns to come back .
You are right, the best gallops will be when it's right out at around 3pm.
Tidetables vary according to areas. You may have to add or lose an hour, depending on location.
We keep a tide-clock in our kitchen ( which is set for our nearest beaches) .
.
Hope you have a great time. :)

Sorry Camilla4, you are incorrect! Reading DOES have a beach at the moment! http://www.theoracle.com/website/Event.ashx?ContentInstanceId=cfc16ca0-8902-4089-b271-b9c4ab09daf1&parentSectionId=b9387061-9309-4826-a776-3eab0d01f819

As to tide times, the high tide is 09.07 and low tide 15.07. Ideally I'd imagine you would want to get there by 12.30, as then by the time you've got tacked up and sorted out you'll have a good 3 hours of low tide and plenty of sand before it starts coming in too far.

Ah, technically I said "coastline" not "beach" but I'm happy to stand corrected!!!! Guessing no riding on this one though?!!

Gosh no, the Oracle people that own the land would have a fit! You can't hand out leaflets, take photos or anything at the waterside according to their rules. Was a bit different in my youth when it was the bus depot yard!

it is standard practice to give tide times in GMT not BST. therefore if you have got unconverted tide times you need to take an hour away (e.g. 9.07 becomes 8.07). just depends where you got the times from as to whether they will be converted to BST or not yet.

Yup, as Sally says, tides are given in GMT/UTC, which means an hour behind BST.

But, tomorrow is 2 days after spring tides so you should have more than usual beach to have fun on.

Where did you get the tidal info from?
