Since I'm kind of new to horses and there are a lot of things I don't understand about horses and riding. Any horsemanship books, websites or videos (I have been looking around but a lot of the websites expect you to already know a lot of stuff) would be helpful, does anyone have any recommendations? I'm really keen to learn more, but don't want to get on peoples nerves by always asking questions!:D

Thanks in advance :)

Pony club manual of horsemanship - oldie but goodie :D

Don't worry about the questions though, you can be sure that you're not the only one wanting to know the answers :)

Ditto the PC manual - they've just released the latest addition and it is very comprehensive. If you felt you needed more try Sylvia Loch's Scales of Training for riding. For ground handling / confidence anything by Kelly Marks. (Not a parelli fan - in my view stay very well away from that!).

You can get Pony Club DVDs to go with the Manual - but I've never seen them so I can't comment on the content. You can also get both DVDs and written guides for the BHS examination series. They are a bit dry - although good if you're doing the series exams.

The H&H forum is quite good too!

I recommend doing the BHS Horse Ownership courses - quite basic but lots of good simple advice to get you started and make sure you are being safe around horses. Our Riding Club runs the courses, but check with the BHS if they are being run in your area. It is also the "informal" info that you pick up chatting to the other horse owners on these courses that is often the best.

We all use the PC manual on the course, so would def recommend that.
