Hi All

Anyone going? am really excited as have managed to hire a trailer and this will be the first event we have travelled to!

Hacked last year to the Blidworth woods meets for both South Notts, and Readyfields.

I'm nervous too as my mare did get rather over excited last year at the south notts, but there was a lot of waiting that day and not so much fast work, I'm hoping sunday will give me the chance to see if she can behave well enough to go out later in the year for a full day. My thinking is readyfields is generally faster than the traditional hunts so she won't be doing so much waiting? Our full day with readyfields started badly but ended well enough, so I'm hoping that now I know a little more what to expect I can manage.

Anyone share their experience on this? Are some horses just too damn silly to stand after charging about? How fast is the hound excerise in comparison?

Hopefully It will go ok, I will hang out at the back with my friend behind so no-one gets caught by an excited buck, but I think if she's really naughty again it could be the end of our hunting career :(

OH and I are discussing going, I will be on my baby H Bomb it will be his first time out, and OH will either be on a 17hh TB bay mare who will be up for it or a huge giraffe like 18.2 warmblood, either way I am sure we will stand out! Say hello if we are there.

When I have been out with the Readyfield before they tend to keep moving and have a break halfway.

You should be fine with the Readyfield as they run from the start. Mick is fine out with them as he settles after about 20 mins, then he becomes the dream ride.

Mick hates waiting and he didn't stand for 4 seasons until last year which was the first time I have had a drink at half time.!

Readyfield are also really organised so you should have a great day.

Great to hear some more will be there,

I was hoping Hound exercise would be similar to the actual hunt, I cant face the extreme fidgets at lots of little stops! She just wants to go for it. When there is only one stop for halftime its not too bad.

I will keep an eye out, mine is 15.2 Sports Horse, very dark brown, with a thin white stripe, and my friend is on a 14.1 liver chestnut with palomino style mane/tail, its her first time.

Hope my hacking jacket off ebay arrives in time! It should be brown, with velvet collar, If not I'll be looking daft in a black coat!

The hound exercises are meant to be steady days out maybe with some optional jumping. If you're ever wondering about what the day will be like ring up one of the staff.
We did the Prestwold meet and there was a lot of canter work and jumping if you wanted it. It was ideal if i'm honest, fully enjoyed it. Quick stop at half time for a breather then off again. Think it lasted just over 2 hours, can't remember now.
Have a good day, relax and enjoy :)
