Every week now the program Real A & E on Sky 1 is showing a horse related accident, more than anything else and some accidents are really bad... putting me right off riding horses. Any body else watches this program!!!!!

Yep, mum watches it. Unfortunately we are a large part of any air ambulances clientèle!

It was the partially amputated leg from a kick that grosses me out!

I'm a theatre nurse and also spend a fair amount of time in A and E and resus.....we dont actually get that many really bad horsey accidents although my colleaugues are quick to point out what a terrible dangerous sport it is.......

my comeback is how many motor bike accidents happen per year? and sorry to sound horribly morbid but at least the horse riders make it to the theatre doors or A&E.........

I'm at both ends of the spectrum. We do both horses and motocross. The boys have had more serious injuries on the bikes than me on the horses but I tend to have a lot more minor injuries. Eg, both boys have been plastered a few times and had many more hospital visits than me but just yesterday, my ginger beast decided to jump on my foot because some kids on pushbikes scared him and I wasn't out of the way quick enough.
IMO both "hobbies" are equally as dangerous if they aren't given the respect they require!
