Totally pointless post im just really pi55ed off with myself! I have a new horsey to play with and ive been unable to ride for a good few months due to injury of my other horse :( Finally have something to ride and i cant because i put my car in a hedge a week ago and fu**ed my back up!!! I can ride but it hurts like hell when i breathe in and new boy is a baby so due to me unable to use my back correctly i feel bad that i cant ride him how he needs to be ridden and i dont want to teach him any bad habits due to my *****e riding atm! A friend is riding him for me but its just gutting that she can get him going nicely and im struggling to keep him in trot! Told u it was a pointless post!! Just totally bummed i cant play properly with my new ponio! On the plus side he looks lush with my friend on board! Roll on summer when i can (hopefully) get him out and about!! :)

You should look at pain relief. I can only ride because I am drugged to the eyeballs on co-codamol, tramadol, gabapentin, ibuprofen and goodness knows what else (on prescription I might add)!

Terrible at the moment due to getting bucked off due to an ill fitting saddle with existing disc problems to add to my woes!

If you want to ride (providing its safe to do so) visit your GP and ask for some pain relief. Just make sure you only take it when you really need it, but also take it reguarly for best effect. When I went to A&E three weeks back after the bucking episode there were loads of posters saying 'please tell us if you need pain relief' and went into details about 'how you heal much quicker and cope better on effective pain relief'. This was a godsend when I could barely weight bear at the time! :)

Not a pointless post, I have been in your situation and its really horrid not to be able to do the things that you want to when you want too. It is so frustrating but as you say spring is on the way and light evenings and warmer weather, to be honest it has not really been the weather to do much at the moment. At the time you think that things will never get better but trust me they will and as I know youwill get there. You will have many years of fun with your new horse as this is just the start of great things and times to come. Plan what you are going to do. But do not rush back into things take your time and make sure that you really are better before you dive straight in. I hope that your back improves soon and look forward to seeing future posts from you of what you and your new horse are doing. Good luck with it al and here is to many fun packed years toghether.

I'd really get checked out again if you're having that much pain breathing in. That from the biggest idiot you may meet. While I continued to gallop with various broken bones and some major soft tissue injuries, I never messed around with head or breathing problems.

And it's ok to whinge about these things. Don't feel bad about it. We all need that sometimes. More important you get better. Look on the bright side, it's still fricking freezing! Keep telling yourself when you're fit and ready the weather will be nicer.

As far as painkillers I can't take anything other than Advil or paracetamol. Even when I broke things. But I managed with those. If I couldn't have I wouldn't have ridden.

Now that I don't have to ride as a job I take it somewhat easier on myself and it really is the best policy. Do heal or like me you will pay for it. While having my morning tea I usually have my hear pillow on my neck. Some mobility is nice!
