Sorry to moan but i really had to get this one off my chest as i really am not a very confrontational person, .... but I am FURIOUS tonight!!!! I am on a large DIY livery yard where the yard owner will feed, bring in, change rugs for extra fees. Well, i was visiting relatives today and so couldn't get down to the yard to bring in and feed my boy. In the morning i left everything ready, feed outside the door, snack ball, stable rug all layed out. I asked my YO 3 days ago if she would sort him for me, she said that it would be fine and she would put it on my bill, ... well i just went down to check on him to find him stood in his soggy turnout and a note from my friend saying he was still out on his own at 6 (others came in around 4) and she had put him in his stable and fed him, because she wasn't sure where i was (my fault i know, forgot to tell her but thought it was sorted). Anyway, sorry for the long rant but i am just so peed off! And i am pretty sure i will get billed for it too!! I had to moan now, as i know if YO talks to me tomorrow i will brush it off and say it is ok (though it obviously isnt!!) GRRR!

Yep I'd be pissed off too.

P.S. Just because you get billed for it doesn't mean you have to pay for it. Just calmly point out it wasn't done.

I would be tempted to not say a word, then when(if) you get billed, present your YO with a large A4 plain writing book and say that you have this great idea on how YO's can plan what they should be doing if they are going to charge you!!

No maybe not, but I have to ask do you have a large wall planner or white board for things like this (or does your YO?).

We are on fairly small assisted DIY but YO has white board and always checks with us each week on what she is doing for us, and puts it up on the board, allowing us to change if required, she checks it morning and evening.....

I'd be piddled off if I was you too but at least someone had the nonce to get your horse in.

Problem is, is if you pay and pretend it doesn’t bother you it may happen again! At the end of the day these people are running a business and therefore their customers should be their first priority!

I would be well peeed off too! This forum is great for a good rant!

I would not give her a bean....she did not do as requested, and surely she have noted your horse was still out........I would not let her near my horse as I would worry if she had not done as asked and quite clearly this was the case, should be interesting to see if she puts the charges on your bill!!!!

yeah, i am not planning on paying am hoping to politely point it out! .. and we do have a board but the YO lives just offsite and so doesn come to the yard v often as she has her own private yard. she is very ditsy!! cant really use this as an excuse tho as this is her job, i know if i didnt turn up at work and do my job it def wouldn go down well!!

keep the note from your friend saying she got him in and fed him, just write the date on it and present that to YO if she bills you for it

The yard is no different than any other service industry. If you don't receive the service you wanted then you don't pay for it. Additionally I would certainly speak to the YO asking why your horse was left out when you had arranged with them to have him brought in. If you say nothing then it will probably happen again. The YO should know that they have certain responsibilities &* cannot charge for what they haven't provided.
