... when people but human values on animals. Just wondering if other people come across this a lot. I have to say, the worst person for it is my OH (totally unhorsey) who tends to assume that animals think the same as people.

I'm currently moving my girl into another stable because she keeps digging a hole to the bottom of her bed then whacking her fetlocks and taking all the skin off when she gets up. So moving her to one with a wooden floor. Explaining this to my OH and he can't understand why she'd keep doing it if she's already done it once or twice.

It just really winds me up when people put their own values on their animals and then don't understand when they don't comply or understand!

Gah!!

Totally random comment but its been annoying me.

ha ha, the first night i left my girlie out in the field she got lots of midge bites on her belly

. I was upset and mentioned it to my OH, he said 'shes an arrogant horse she was probably standing where the midges are and refused to move, shes got to learn that there are other beings in the world and that its not just her field' wot?????????????????? I told my OH off for being so silly but I did think it was funny.

Having studied English Lit at Uni I can confirm that Pratchett is one of the wittiest, most intelligent and thoughtful writers workig today, so you are very well educated in that respect! I love PTerry!

I answer to the OP, I hate it too - why can't people understand that animals do not have the same emotions as us? My heart does a little skip everytime T whinnies for me BUT I would be kidding myself if I thought it's because he loves me or something similar. We have a great bond but he'd walk over my dead body to get to a someone with a feed bucket, lol!
