Hi there,
My horse is 8 years young and when riding/lunging her she has this really bad low clicking sound from behind.
It sounds like it is coming from both sides, but unfortunatly can not tell if the clicking is coming from her stifle, hock or fetlock.
If anyone has had much similar experiences with there horse, any help would be appreciated!
Thankyou

My boy has clicked behind on and off for years. Think is coming from hock. From various posts on here doesn't cause any problems.

My 9 year old also makes a low clicking sound from the hip. I think it comes from the right side. I only hear it when we do sholder in and leg yealding (is is spelt correctly?) The vet sais it is proberbly a tendon or muscle which popes over something...
It does not seem to bother him.

Ok thankyou for all your help!
I have tried to give her cod liver oil and glucosmine but she blankly refuses to eat it.
Any ideas on what tastes appeatising that she might eat for her joints?

My mums mare has always clicked since she bought her as a 4 year old.. It comes from her stifle & her stifle has stuck on & off over the years.. It got really bad at one point but a fab osteopath sorted her out kust in time as we had her booked in for a stifle op..

Ok thankyou,
I am thinking of getting her a magnetic rug as they have been highly recommended just purely to help with her joints and stiffness.
She is a little stiff through her back end but nothing to concern me of calling a vet out.
She only clicks in trot and the clicking is quite bad in this gait, just want to try and do everything I can to make her feel more comfortable as when she does trot the clicking sounds painfull from my point of view!
She shows no signs that she is in discomfort, just am concerned about arthritus

My boy started clicking in his left hock - turned out to be arthritis and he was retired. Did not click in his right hock until 3 yrs later when he had an accident in the field, then it clicked like mad. I got steroid injections and IRAP to try and make him as comfortable as I could (insurance had long run out at this point).

He has just started clicking in his neck when he turns to the left - chiro has identified that the joint is not loose on that side like it should be and so arthritic changes have started (vet said to expect this).

He is on double dose cosequin and double dose superflex and wears magnetic bands 24/7 otherwise he wouldnt be able to move. He is stiff in the mornings but he loosens up after 10 mins walking in hand. He is 12 this year, he has been retired since he was 7 (have had him 8 yrs). Not sure how much longer he will go on for but he is my baby and I love him (despite costing the same to keep as the other 2 put together).

If she clicks and is stiff then I would think arthritis. I was never convinced about the air popping argument.

The thing is the life she had before I bought her was not a good one as I understand.
Iv only had her since last November so we are still getting to know one another, She enjoys her work and really likes being worked about 3-4 times a week.
I think im going to try the idea of a magnetic rug as you have said that it really helps ur boy, also magnetic boots too for her back end just to make her feel a little less stiff.
Has anyone any ideas on the supplement front?
Like iv said tried her on glucosmine and cod liver oil but she just wont touch it, I no she will eat veg oil but does anyone recommend that?

One of mine clicks now and then. Not since I've been feeding him micronized linseed though. Might be worth a try, because it is an anti inflamatory, plus lots of other health benefits - I think the oil content would help too.

I will give that a try and see if she will eat it
Shes so fussy about her food!
Thankyou all so much for all your advice and dealings with clicky horses.
She has improved a little over the last week but is not lame in any way, just gentle exercise for the time being until either it gets worse or even better goes away!
Thankyou all so much again
