As you know I sold my ISH 5 year old as we just weren't getting on and I felt he needed someone who could do more with him.
Just found out that she has sold him :(
I appreciate that once she had him he was hers to do what she liked with etc but she promised she would let me know if she ever had to part with him. I have messaged her a few times with no reply only to have her confess tonight that he was sold 2 weeks ago.
Im probably being unreasonable but Im so disappointed :( Im trying to find out who has him now, I just want to know he is ok :(

I know once you sell a horse, it's out of your hands...but if I promised to let someone know about a horse, I would damn well do it!! In fact I do, I post all the time on facebook so YO can see.

I think it's really horrid when people promise things like that, but don't follow through :(

I'm really sorry to hear they've done that :(

So sorry to hear this :(
Merryn was given to me for free 3 years ago and I still email his old owner updates including pic and videos. she gave away another pony to someone else and they hardly keeped intouch and when they did they lied about what they had been doing and then in the end sold without telling the old owner. She was heartbroken.

I hope you manage to find out where he is and that he is safe and happy in his new home.

(I have to admit I told Herbies old owner I would keep in touch but didn't. Thats a hole diffrent story though.)

Thing is - if she didn't get on with him, she did't get on with him, so he's probably better off elsewhere.
Hopefully she will pass on your contact details to the new owner. Its a sad fact of life though, that once you sell an animal, you can only hope that the owner will continue to communicate - they aren't obliged to.

Same thing happened to me I sold my Arab and said can I have first refusal if she sold him as I wanted to make sure he went to a good home, she sold him to her YO who had Arabs (this I found out through her YO and not her) then he was sold on. All I can hope is he is in a good home as was gutted when I found out that after 2 months he had been sold :-(

I when I bought my boy contacted his owner and kept her up to date not over the top contact but just enough so she knew he is in a forever home and well loved. Suppose it all depends on the person buying/selling the horse

That is sad, especially if they said they would keep in touch.
I bought my horse as an 8 month old from the lady who bred her, I kept in touch via email then she got Facebook so keep in touch that way and she sees all the many thousands of photos and updates I have/do :)

Ahh bless ya that is sad. It doesnt take much to drop a quick email :(

I don't keep in contact with Giz's owner but his brother delivers our hay so he always says hello and tells his brother how he is getting on. I also know his previous owner as well via facebook and she is only down the road so will meet her one day (and ride her superb dressage horse ;)) and after this thread im going to speak to her about the people she got him from and send them a nice letter and some pics (they are old school and live in Ireland) :)

That's sad to hear. She didn't keep him long then. Do you know the reason why she sold him on?

It's harsh but true that once you sell an animal, you have absolutely no say over what happens to it in the future. It's the reason why i could never part with any of mine.

I hope you find out where he has gone and hope it's a nice home. Keep us posted. :)
