So ordered a bit to hire from a certain hire shop, nearly 2 weeks ago, after trying for ages to get through on the phone was told I should have it by Thurs ( today) still no bit, they are quick enough to take the money from my account, just needed to rant !!! Anybody else had problems, not very reassuring for a 1st time of using a service like this !

I had a problem with a certain "bit specialist" I used while I lived in Wales .... She came to look at a few horses we had, recommended bits which she "hired" to us to try. We paid up front with the promise that if the bit was thought to be unsuitable we would be given a full refund, she would return to the yard to offer more advice. Well, the bits were unsuitable on most of the horses she fitted. They showed discomfort and no improvement with the issues we had described and shown to her. When we called her to make a further appointment and receive our refund she had vanished off the face of the earth! The bits cost a fortune too - average price around £80 each  The next time we saw her she was swanning around Badminton, she looked a bit miffed to see us and fobbed us off with a promise to call us which of course she never did ....

Sorry, slightly different situation to yours but if I were you I would keep on calling and bugging them. It's ridiculous that you have paid for something as potentially pricey as a bit and still not received!

LOL, you were lucky. I had my money taken out twice by a certain bit hire service. They refunded one lot of cash but apparently, I wasn't the only one.

If youve paid by credit card or visa debit you can explain this to your bank, they will refund you and go after the merchant to reimburse them direct.

If it was thehorsebitshop.co.uk give up now. They are useless and their customer service is non existent. They charged me for a bit I didn't have and refused to refund my money!

Starsky I agree - had an awful experience with them sending me the wrong bit and taking weeks of chasing to get a refund (I didn't get the whole amount in the end, but I couldn't be bothered to argue any more).

The horse bit bank on the other hand was excellent.

I always use the horse bit shop and never had a problem. Have ordered a bit this morning and already got an email saying its been sent. That's the 5th one I've ordered over the last few years.

Once they did sent the wrong size bit, but I sent it back and got my replacement quickly.

I must be lucky :)

Have to agree, I ordered a bit to trial, paid extra for next day delivery £6/7.
Next day it wasn't deliver, nor the day after...so I rang & it was still sat in the office! It meant a lot to me, I was almost in tears (quite emotional as I'd tried many bits & held hope for this new one & hadn't ridden in 2 days due to waiting for the new 1) so I told them where to stick it & give me a refund.
They were embarrassed & I'll never use them or recommend them ever.
Customer service is everything.

Had a terrible experience with thehorsebitshop.co.uk, shambles of a company, amazed they are still in business

Oh god, with some of the replies, yes it is Thehorsebitshop, going to try and ring again tomorrow !!

Just keep ringing, and ringing again, and then some more! Eventually you might get through. Alternatively if you paid using a credit card you might be able to reclaim the money if you haven't received the bit.

I bet I know who that was!

I have had good and bad experiences from them.

Like you say, next day delivery, but it didn't come next day, but did get refund.

I like to use them simply because I can hire expensive bits without paying up front.

Have to say out of a few experiences only 2 were bad. Have ordered another today and it is a bit I cannot try elsewhere, so fingers crossed!

I have had two negative experiences with thehorsebitshop - both times the bit wasnt delivered, my emails were ignored for weeks and when I got through on the phone I was told it was in the post (lies). I did get a refund but I would never use the company again - time wasters!

I used horse bit bank - they were great. Hired a bit for the trial period sent it back for a brand new one received the new one within a week. Would defo recommend them, and I would certainly use them again.

Another who had issues with The Horse Bit Shop - who one earth sends out a weymouth but not the bradoon, with no idea of when the bradoon will be in stock with them, yet starts the trial time on the weymouth?

I ended up buying the bloody thing (from them which irritated me immensely but I did at least HAVE the bit and from what I'd read on here, didn't trust them not to charge me regardless), the bradoon from somewhere else and thankfully the horse liked them. My YO had really bad problems with them, telling her a certain bit was DEFINITELY in stock, they were holding it in their hands that very minute so she paid for it in full. When it hadn't turned up in a week, she rang to be told it had to be ordered in from America and there was a 6 week wait on it. She ended up going to the shop in person and kicking off big time at them to get her money back.

I pestered them on Facebook. Most of the posts got deleted pretty quickly but when they realised I wasn't going to give up until they refunded me the bradoon charge, they did the refund. I wouldn't expect any response from emails - I sent a few only to be told when I eventually got through that the person who checked the emails hadn't been in for a week?!

Some people DO have positive experiences with them but I know more people that haven't, sorry.

Update ::: finally got through today on the phone, and lo and be-hold the bit is there and should be with me tomorrow, just hoping I have'nt been fobbed off again, this is their last chance.
