I'm starting to get really fed up with this!!!

A little while ago I posted photos of my art and said I was excited about starting drawing again... but it got removed as apparently it was 'advertising'. However, many people post pictures of their art, links to their art, have their artwork in their sigs, etc. all the time.

Yesterday I put a post up asking for advice on a loan advert, as I am putting my horse on loan. I got some really helpful replies advising on wording of my advert and also on loan agreements, etc. I also asked where I can advertise, again, getting some helpful replies.

I've just recieved a PM telling me that my post has been removed because it was 'advertising'!!!
I feel that this is taking the mick a bit as I've seen so many of these posts, where people are asking for advice on their adverts, etc. Why has mine been deleted?!!!

I'll probably get in trouble for posting this too now... tbh, I don't know what I am and what I'm not allowed to do on this forum. It seems some get away with murder and some don't.

Soooo agree! You see so many people doing this a lot worse than that and it never gets deleted, I think they should thoroughly read our posts and they may see it's not actually advertising!

Exactly! In my post, I put a draft of an advert, which has actually been completely changed, asking what people thought of the wording... I put four photos up and asked which people thought was best and then I asked where I could advertise....
That is not advertising... that's asking for advice! And I got some great advice too!

In my artwork post, I did put a link... but I've seen so many others put links to their artwork that I thought it'd be ok. If they'd wanted me to remove the link then that would have been fine.

Also, I run a forum and a few times I have posted the link to it, if there has been an advert on there that has been relevant to a post someone has posted, or something... as people post links aaaalll the time! But I'm not allowed to post the link to my forum. It seems my links are the only ones that aren't allowed to be posted on HHO!!

It just seems that the lines are blurred... I can't work out what's allowed and what's not! You're allowed to post links... but only links that Admin decides are ok??

Lets be honest, tonnes of people use this forum to network, whether it's directly or indirectly! Ponies have been bought and sold through here, instructors found, yards found, events organised.... loads of stuff happens as a result of HHO... why is what I'm doing any different??

Sorry for the rant. The more I think about it, the more wound up I'm getting.

lots of people ask for help in this forum, asking how to word your adverts so you can sell/loan/buy is good and then when you think you have it rght you can put it in h&h and anywhere else you want knowing that it will appeal to the market you want.

Aaa, I've just recieved a PM from Admin and it seems they only remove a post that they are notified about... so the problem obviously isn't with Admin, someone obviously has a problem with me!!

I wonder if the person who keeps reporting my posts as advertising would be so kind and brave as to let me know they'd done so...

So that just proves... it is one standard for some and another for others. The people that are clearly the 'in crowd' don't get reported and therefore their posts are allowed to remain.
How frustrating.

I'd just ignore it, LittleSoph. There are people on here who get such kicks out of the fact that they can cyber bully. Makes them feel like big, brave old women.

They're especially vicious to younger users. Because it makes them a super special big brave old woman then.

On the upside, wish I lived in essex if it's your coloured you're loaning. I suppose I can dream...

Its nothing to do with "in-crowds" or out-crowds. There is someone here who, for whatever reason, is picking on YOUR posts. it may be someone you know in real life who doesnt like what you are saying, or someone who is jsut being holier-than-thou. It is pretty cowardly, it would be better if they posted on the thread telling you that its against the rules, but then some people are pretty sneaky and underhand.

Totally agree. Put post myself on to see other peoples opinions of equestrian store. I had abusive remarks put on there nothing to do with post. I complained to admin and i was told i should not complain on forum but to company(which i had). But put it on there for othere to have view on. So as said ok for some people 2 b abusive. There are always jealous people out there. Love your drawing. Wicked.

I find the same,
Im not sure what counts as advertising and what doesnt, it does seem some get of,and some dont!,
hmm, cant see why is should matter anyway, its depends on how you word it, I think!!

I think the artwork one is a bit different - I did see your post - and tbh I don't think any of the other artists do that... sure, there's the art thread in the gallery but that's different, and if people are interested they know where your PMs are! (well, so it seems)

But as for equine adverts, seeing as almost everyone does it, why shouldn't you? Plus, it's a little different in my mind anyway, because for a start you're specifically asking about price/wording whatever, not just stating 'I am selling ___*

But there will always be /someone/ out there who has to do something...

Sol, I didn't realise there was a difference between putting it in a post and putting it on the artwork thread...
I'd just created a brand new fan page so was excited about that. That was the only link I posted.

Kit, I realise that now... see post a bit lower down.

It all seems to boil down to which button pusher saw it. It really is not fair what some people get away with on here, and others get pulled up on.
That's life though, unfair.
