basically my mare has started 'proper' work now
currently she is in a Egg butt snaffle & she has mastered the art of getting her tongue over the bit! i don't just mean everynow ant then it's all the time! i cant tighten the cheek straps anymore and the bit is the correct size

So can someone please reccommend me something else? i was advised of a straightbar happy mouth but she is very strong and im not sure i could stop her in that?

Any suggestions appreciated :)

When my pony started getting his tongue over his eggbutt I moved him into a NS Verbindend, which he is very happy with.

My youngster is in a NS Team Up but would also recommend the Verbindend...I'm a big fan of NS and both of mine have NS in :)

Do you mean that there are no more holes left? If so she has outgrown your bridle.
Your best bet would be to hire a few different bits from a bit bank and try them to see which is most effective and comfortable for her.

Can you borrow some bits to try from others on your yard?

This is often a good thing to do because you don't end up spending a fortune on bits that the horse ends up not liking. NS bits are expensive, I would start off with a standard lozenge snaffle as lots of horses don't like the nutcracker action of an eggbut snaffle.

This one has hanging cheeks (makes the bit nice and stable in the horse's mouth), but you could have loose rings (gives a bit more movement) or full cheeks (good for extra turning power with nappy horses) if you like. Have a look on ebay. :)

the NS are wayyyy outta my budget :o:o

i meant if i thighten it anymore her mouth would be stretched upto her eyeballs!:D

im goin to ask around at the yard tonight see whats going spare

That's what I would do. Try some different bits and see what she likes.

If you're not doing dressage, you can try things with curbs eg Kimblewicks or a pelham. If you've not fitted a curb chain before (sorry if you have ;) ) just ask someone at the yard to show you.

I do think trial and error come into it. I've taken advice from my YO and Shy's fab dentist, and he has two bits he's very comfy in now. Because he's been teething recently, I've also used a hackamore with great success.

DO make sure the bit fits, and there should be no more than one wrinkle, if that. A girl on our yard was obsessed with bits, and how her pony hated them all - he is now settled in a bubble bit of all things.

Good luck x

Unfortunatly no1 has anything the right size to try at my yard (there's only a few of us)
i have my instructor coming in the morning so hopefully she will be able to advise
Thanks for the suggestions i have bid on a few on ebay so we may have some new breaks soooner rather than later:o
