Going to view a horse today. Im terrified. I've not ridden properly for over a year and I'm worrying... I know I'll be fine but i can't help it!

I had a dream last night that we went to view on this morning at Warks College and while I was there I ended up talking to all my old friend and such, then I looked at my watch and I was an hour and half late for the mare Im going to look at and she had been sold..lol

Also, a bit of advise needed. Both horses I have ever brought I have not been to 'view to buy'. Amber was brought at Beeston market and Ted was free to a good home.. and well the rest is history with the little lad.

So what Im saying is, has anyone got any times, how would you view the horse. Ive asked for the horse to be left in the field as I want to catch it. Will they get shirty If i ask them to take the martingale off? I want to see why its got it on today. even though the woman has said its because her daughter likes them..

if she gets shirty then alarm bells should start ringing.

If they are honest and genuine then they will ask as many Qs as you do.

Dont be nervous, anything ur unsure or unhappy about just ask! When riding, ask to watch someone ride him/her first before you do, and make sure u r comfortable walking and halting before you try anything else.

The first horse i tried i didnt even trot because i didnt feel safe!

Rem your the potential buyer, so the balls in your court.

hope it all goes well! good luck

.

Do all the things you want to do to enable you to know if she is the ned for you hun. The owners shouldn't mind at all!

I think that once you've seen her and spent some time with her, you'll know if you want to take things further, e.g. jumps, a hack up the lane, etc.

Don't forget to take a camera!

Good Luck! Its always a mixture of nerve wracking/exciting going to view a new horse but like others said, ask loads of questions and see her doing as much as possible. I think you get a 'vibe' from a horse if they're the one for you
