I'm new to BD and am just about to send my entry off for first competition  but have a few questions.....

1. Entry Form - Name of Competition???? does this mean venue or not!!!!

(Told you they were numpty questions lol:o :o)

2. Do I need two bridle numbers or one??

3. Am I ok to compete in my jumping saddle, just horse can be a bit full of herself sometimes and feel safer in this, have got a DR Saddle, but would prefer to ride in other, just for the moment.

Sorry.....and thankies.....:D

For name of competition I always put the venue and date of competition. Never been told otherwise and I'm not sure what you could call it unless it was an Area Festival or something?

You only need one bridle number - I have it on the nearside and make sure I ride past the judge that way so they can see my number before the test starts - if possible - not always.

Of course you can ride in your jump saddle :)

When is your first outing?

Although it says in the rule book that 2 numbers are preferred I have never actually seen anyone with 2 bridles numbers at any competion I have done so one will be fine :)

As isz says also whatever saddle you are most comfortable in is fine - you may as well use the one you feel most secure in.

Have fun and good luck!

Thanks Honey, feel really silly asking such numpty question, but thought best to ask than get my entries returned......lol....

Going to Vale View 17th December, entries close this Sunday so thought I would nip them over tomorrow, although am there on Sunday for TB DR but closing date is Sunday, do you think I would be ok taking then Sunday, might give them a call and check.....

Was getting a little fed up of TB DR, and when BD offered the free horse registration thought it was worth doing........

I believe that the point of asking people to wear two numbers is to help the writer out - as if the rider doesn't ride past with the number towards the writer then it's nigh on impossible with the majority of small bridle numbers to establish what the rider's number is - so then the writer will end up either assuming that you are the rider next on the list (and aspiring to confirm during the test but may forget) - or waiting until part way through the class to spot the number and then trying to fill in the top details as well as record marks/comments - or will maybe even shout and ask you when you ride past (which may or may not disturb your concentration/flow).

As someone who writes a lot - please please please either make sure that your number is writer-side as you ride past, shout out your number as you ride past/close or wear two numbers - it really really helps!! Doing all of the above is a bonus!! Oh and in a multiple judge scenario - all the writers need to know!!

Personally, I think that there should ba a couple of bonus marks for the writer to allocate based on how easy it is to identify the competitor - or that all competitors should wear bibs (bling optional) like they do Eventing :-)

I'm there too that day - I'll look out for you :)

Im there too!

It will be fine to hand them in on Sunday if that’s the closing date, they normally accept late entries anyway so shouldn’t be a problem :)

Re the two numbers thing, we have saddle cloth numbers instead of bridle numbers , one on each side, much easier for the writer to see, and it doesn’t interfere with the bridle or irritate the horse

This might be better for me as horse I am taking is not 100% happy with bridle number, will go a shopping tomorrow.....thanks....

See you there......
