Really numpty question about magnetic boots

Really stupid question but can you use magnetic boots following corticosteroids into joints?
Not sure how much use the boots make to be honest as not had them long but horse had joints medicated last week and I haven't wanted to use them in case they can affect it in any way?
Joints sometimes feel warm to touch, especially in morning when he been in overnight and wondering if the boots would just make this warmer?
Maybe I should just stick to his stable chaps once the weather goes colder as they seem to help with stiffness.

It's not a numpty question, but better to discuss it with your own vet who has been treating your horse

Its a very good question. I know that they shouldn't be used when horse has an infection or a wound but not sure about your situation. You'd be best to contact the makers of the boots directly for advice.

I have my horses fetlock injected with cortisone and have just this week bought a prolite pastern wrap with the intention of adding magnets, never even considered it may be harmful due to the medication- Did you speak to your vet?

I havent yet, have got a different vet coming out next week for vaccinations so was going to ask them. Some people seem to think that they may affect the process of the steroid working in the joint.

Mudmonkey17 would you let us know what you find out please? My horse had steriod inj this eve and I left him with his magnetic boots on front legs and a stable bandage on his non medicated leg, after reading your post I popped back out and took boots off!! Would like to use them if poss as 'blumin' expensive!!

Oh don't mean to cause alarm, I was just curious as after a massive vet bill didn't want to affect the way that the injections
work in ant way. I want to use the boots as agree with you were expensive.
Have emailed premier equine and equilibrium who make the boots I have got. Will post amy reply I get on here. Also planning to ask vet on Wednesday when they come out.

I have had very good result with magnet boots, although not in conjunction with steroid injections.
I cannot imagine that they would have any negative effects though as really all they do is increase the blood flow.

Supposedly - though the scientific evidence for this is at best very weak.

My vet is a great advocate of magnets - so much so that he convinced my insurance company to pay for a magnetic rug and pulsed electromagentic unit for me! We had boots too and they definately helped - used aerborn magnetic wraps on advice of vet as apparently the magnets were differnt in some way - can't remember how. They don't make them anymore though - my pair a patched to within an inch of their lives!
