Well ive got a lovely lady coming to view my sons pony on saturday, and its sunk in that the little tinker might actually be leaving us :(. She's been a much loved family member for two years and has taught my little boy so much but my head says its time to let her go despite my heart kicking up a big stink about it. My sons getting to big for her and hes really into his football/judo etc so im trying to do whats best for the pony. Just wish it wasnt so hard :(

Aww big hugs!! It sucks having to sell horses but think about all the fun she can give to another child just like she did with your son

On to another nice family to do the job again my friend has bought a new pony for her little girl her first ridden of the lead rien an old boy has taking literally dozens of children through this stage he's retiring to the orchard as they feel he done his bit now .

Thanks....ill miss her although im sure she'll have lots of fun if the lady on saturday buys her. She runs a pony club so Holly will be a busy bee.

Ah bless you!

I find it a big plus when people want to stay in touch and know how their doing when I buy anything, I see it as an encouraging sign that they cant wait to see the back of them :D
Maybe you'll feel better when you see another child enjoying her and visa versa
and it might help if you hit it off with the lady.

I already know the lady, i couldnt wish for a better home for the pony if she does decide to buy her ...so thats a good thing :). Doesnt make it any easier on the heartstrings though.

I feel for you. We've done it twice in the last few years with my stepson's ponies and its not fun. It does help to see them settled and happy with a new jockey doing well.

My stepson is now sharing his dad's 17h horse. He has gone from 11h to 17h in 5 years! Frightening! He is growing so fast we sometimes fear he will grow out of the 17h one!

On the positive side, its nice having less to muck out!

I know how u feel, we have done the same a few times. Our first lead rein we had 2years then first ridden had 6months as sister grow out of her but she went to a brilliant home they still have her and apparently never selling her as have there own yard. Then moved on to a second pony and we just can't bring ourselves to part with her but she's on loan but makes it no easier, so we asked owner if we can loan out from our yard and she was happy with us to do that so she'll be around as Long as she has someone to ride her, but we still ride her and do loads with her. Our new boy is only a baby and even when my sister grow out of him (14.2hh) as shes going to be taller than me ill keep him for myself.

My sister has come to understand that ponies go as she gets bigger and gets less upset Everytime, while me and mum find it harder.

But it really does help to know someone is having fun with them.
