Really quite worried about my 8 month old puppy

Normally, my papillon puppy is lovely, super friendly, very smart, good with my cat and nice to be around. She had a busy day today, went to a pub and then to my grand mothers flat (she does that regularly) and back home. My mum (I live at home) wormed her today, its a spot on treatment and gave her lots of treats. Since about 7 she has been flat out asleep in her pen, didn't want any food. I got her out and she went and hid behind the sofa, which is odd in itself. I tried to call her out-nothing. Offered her treats-nothing. Tried to go near her, she snapped at me. All very odd. Eventually she came out for some liver treats, wouldn't let me go near her. She went into the kitchen into the corner, sat down, and then snapped and growled at anyone (in a frankly scary way) who went near her collar, or just her in general. She looked very anxious. The only way we managed to move her was by putting her crate near her, she went in, and then we carried her upstairs. I'm really very concerned. She has got a bit possessive over chews on the sofa before but that was solved by not picking her up off the sofa and teaching her "off" ad never to that degree. Yes, she was very tired but I really can't deal with her behaving like that and I'm worried that this will get triggered off by something else which is dangerous. I want my friendly, cuddly puppy who loves to be stroked in a lap back and I really didn't know how to deal with the situation tonight. Any ideas?!
 
Haven't phoned the vets yet as its 11:21 but she has had this type of wormer before and not had any reaction. But that was my first thought, if she is still like this in the morning, get her to the vets as this is not normal.
 
If she's behaving very out of character, bear in mind that she could be feeling poorly - possibly a high temperature/infection or pain. I always think that people should trust their instincts, if you don't think an animal you know well is 'right' or their normal self, get them checked by a Vet.
 
My lurcher is very sensitive to wormers. I dread worming him as they make him so 'off'. He becomes very lethargic, wont eat and worries me no end. Tonight we had to give him vet prescribed pain killers for a dew claw injury and Ive been watching him closely as he just doesnt do meds well at all. Hope you puppy is feeling better in the morning, they are such a worry.
 
I'm hoping she'll be back to normal tomorrow. It has really shaken me up actually, just watching her lying in the corner and properly snapping at anyone approaching. An explanation would be good, I am really hoping that it is the wormer that is causing this behaviour and not anything more sinister.
 
Hopefully she is just feeling very sorry for herself. I was really suprised today when I went to cuddle him, he raised his lip at me, he has never ever done this in the 6 years we have had him. His leg was sore but I didnt think it warranted a vet visit, the lip curling changed my mind and we took him to the vets who gave us pain killers. Im presuming his leg was very sore and his reaction was purely a dont touch it, it hurts a lot reaction.
 
Could it possibly be that she is preparing to come into season? She hasn't had her first season yet and is due to be spayed in a couple of weeks but if that is why she is acting up we might bring it forward....if she still isn't right tomorrow she will go to the vets.

Possibly a product called Advocate, really good product very effective against fleas and ticks, but also does a few of the worms such as lungworms, doesn't do tapeworm.

OP is there not a 24hr vet hospital, does your normal vets not have an out of hours contact number? Most do. They'll be happy to give some advice, I work on a vets hospital - if I work the night, it's mainly dealing with queries!

I hope your puppy is feeling better this morning, if not give your vets a call and see what they can do.
 
She is up, bouncing around as usual this morning much to my relief. Se was reluctant to leave her crate but now she has she was very happy to see me, no aggression or anything. I'm never using that wormer again (it was advocate) if she reacts like that, and I will phone the vets to discuss it, and discuss bringing the spaying forward if she is about to come into season.
 
I have used Advocate both for my Dogs and my Kitten with no problem what so ever, a very effective drug. For years I used Frontline but at the end I found it was not effective. I would talk to your vet about it, this could have been a one off.
 
I called the vets in the morning who said this was a first and that she didn't have any concerning symptom. She's been totally fine all day, back to normal so I'm going to put it behind us and make sure I don't use that wormer again.
