Went for hack today. 5 mins up road, bloke in Ford Ka behind us (me and young girl livery), was 10 secs from layby but this strange bloke was having one of it. Screeched up behind Fly, nearly had his hocks, I was so scared, screamed at man to pull back, he accelerated. Fly was an angel (where did that come from), he stood his ground. I waited for impact!............he missed us by centimeters, I said "do you want my horse on your bonnet?" - he got out of car and aggressively approached, he tried to grab flys bridle, I shouted at him to get away, and he lunged at us. I was so scared. Fly was an angel, I threatened him with my whip and told him to leave us alone. Felt so scared. He kept coming, I screamed and my husband heard us so came running, (luckily was just out of yard), the man saw him and got in his car and sped offl Have reported incident to police and will see what happens, but it was so scary. Never had anything like this happen before!

OMG!!! Did you / OH get the registration number? I hope they bloody lock him up and throw away the key

Good on you for standing your ground, What whip was it? Violence isnt always the answer but in this case it prob would of been best. U was with some one else, was they okay? Glad ur all ok.

No didn't get registration but funnily enough was thinking at the time "must get registration" but he was so violent so I couldn't focus! Oh [****], feel like such a bloody victim and feel angry coz I didn't deal with it like I should have! Can't get over my horse, so calm, he is normally so spooky, can't help but feel he was looking out for me.

I should alo fill in a form for the BHS.I know it wasn't a full blown accident but it could've been and road rage is just as bad,Hope you got his rdegistration!

What and absolute arshole,

I will be suprised if the police are interested, they might get the helicopter out if someone hasn't paid their road tax or TV licence

I had a nasty experience along a river path with a man and his dogs, one of the dogs being his wife,

totally unprovoked and he was threatening to fill me in and swearing and shouting at me, dont know if he was on drugs or been drinking, it's very worrying even for a bloke like me when there is no reason for the attack physical or verbal, I understand how upsetting it is.

Gosh, how horrific

Thank goodness your horse was so brave. I hope the police get him. Do you think his manner was because he doesn't think horses should be on the road?

Did he say anything when approaching you?

How awful

How horrible for you. Glad you and your friend escaped physically unharmed though. I hope the nasty little oik doesn't do it to anyone else or he will eventually cause a fatality.

Well done you and Fly for being brave thats an awful thing to happen!! I've always thought a whip would be a good weapon if you got attacked out riding, I think I'll definatly always carry one on the future. Glad you are both ok!

This is one of the reasons I always carry a whip and wouldn't be afraid to use it if need be but then I'm a gobby so and so, what an absolute arse of a man!

Don't beat yourself up for not getting the number, when we feel threatened adrenaline makes logic fly out the window. Instead ask yourself if there was anything distinctive about the car or him and make a note of it, if you see him again you may be able to get the number next time.

OMG what a d**k!!! I dont think motorists care about horse and riders anymore, I went out myself the last time with Mae and had a guy in a ford focus come right up maes ass and rev the engine.

Got his reg and reported him, the policemans exact words were "What do you want us to do about it?". How long would you get these days for hitting a police officer lol.
