Really Silly question

Ok please dont shoot me down, I just need to ask this (runs to hide) how do you tell if a mare is in season?

I know another mare in our field is in season, if a horse has been on its own for 5 months and then has a season in a field though of mares would it be a 'stronger' season

Sorry looking for a reason why mare is rearing and being nappy I know that this probably has no effect I think Im wishing!!!

Generally mares behaviour is affected when they come into season...so you can breathe, the napping etc will probably pass! lol

Some seasons are glaringly obvious (and messy!), and some are quiet and almost unnoticeable, so not a silly question

I used Nupafeed when my mare was having a moment or two

If you look at the mare's vulva she will appear "looser" and poss a little swollen compared to normal.
She may "squirt" urine around geldings. If she's a messy so-and-so her back legs and tail may be especially dirty.

As disgusting as it sounds as well as all the above you can usually smell them before you see them (well I can mine anyway !)
