What are the foam pads called that you can put between the saddle and the numnah? Alot of the top riders use them.

Could you use them between the saddle and a polypad?

I think you are talking about shims. There are lots of variations on a theme, like some numnahs have pockets for the foam and some are a separate foam shaped product

I would think you mean a prolite pad.

Polypads are thick, as are prolites. If you wanted to use both you would need to have your saddle widened to accommodate. I wouldn't use one unless your saddler says you need one and usually that's if your Horse needs to build muscle.

Top riders often use pads like this as they have close contact saddles and use them on more than one Horse. Also, for cushioning which I can understand jumping round something like Badminton!

Oh - and there are loads of other makes, I say prolite as they are generally considered the best ones.

People like Wintec and Mark Todd make them as well. Just google 'back pads'!

Well prolite is a particular brand of foam and comes in all sorts of thicknesses. Prolite is said to be the best as its reputed to not give a 'ledge' where the foam finishes

(No idea if that's true re the 'no ledge" BTW, but its what a saddle manufacturer told me :) )

Are you really sure you need more padding over and above the Polypad though?
