REALLY ?!?

well thats something new to threaten my two monsters with!

although ' you'll be turned into a rug for my floor', doesnt have quite the same ring as 'tesco meatballs!!!'

Would go perfectly with my rhino heads and elephant tusk collection!

How odd! Plus it looks like it probably smells fusty!

i have always said i'd like to turn my big lad into a rug , but only when he has his winter coat cos that would be so yummy to push your toes thru

can someone link im confused... or is that norty and admins will slap your hand ?

Of not can you give me the jist ?:o

Not exactly my cup of tea...

However, do remember the trekking centre we used to go to with uni, had a lovely spotted hide leather sofa...always the last choice of seat even if v comfy. Especially after we found out it was from one of the ponies they bred - they loved the colour and he was a fave, so kept the hide... Bit extreme compared to keeping a bit of tail...

Didn't see the other trophies and didn't feel that I wanted to buy that horse skin rug myself, but if you're going to kill an animal, I sort of like that as much as possible is used somehow and that as little as possible is wasted.

I got sent the link via PM, its horrible :( what's next ? roadkill curtains ?:o

I don't think it is. It's no worse than leather IMO. I'd rather see all the parts of the animal get used rather than discarded. It'd be no good in my house (dogs would chew it no doubt!) but I can see the appeal.

There was, maybe still is, a taxidermy website based in the US where one poster posted pics of live horses for use as taxidermy. You saw a nice colour or markings, chose the bits of the animal you wanted and that was that.

Strange world.

You can buy them in John Lewis. What's the problem? Pony skin is widely available.

You either like it or you don't.

No different to a cow's skin being made into a coat or a saddle or a bridle...

I've nothing against skins or taxidermy if an animal is going to be killed I'd rather use as much of it as possible.

When my godmother had the lambs sent for meat she had their skins done too and had them as rugs. No different to that or leather etc.

The posed taxidermy isn't to my taste but in theory I'd have a skin if I had the right place for it.

I'm not a massive fan of this although I think it's the mane and tail that freaks me out. But would rather everything was used than just chucked away. My oh did have a cow skin he tried to introduce into the living room, nothing against skins it's just not my style but it sent the dogs nuts and it used to be the wee spot of choice!!

p.s. I find taxidermy weird and disturbing but that's just me :)

Skins are fine as long as they are not tigers or lions or any other endangered animals. I guess domestic animal skins are fine.

I mean how can anyone say "eurgh" to that skin? I bet many posters on this thread currently sit on a sheepskin numnah...???

Yes, it WAS a little sheep once upon a time...
