hi i recently bought a pony for a child it was described as a good jumping pony actually it is a bad rearer it goes beyond the vertical, any body out there had experience of taking legal action against a private seller, this pony is extremely dangerous so i cannot sell it on my concience would not let me

The chances are that as you had the right to trial the pony prior to buying that you have no grounds when it comes to legal action. But I may be wrong?? Have you had its back etc checked, ponies can be quiet dramatic sometimes...

suspect doped when tried, as rears when not got rider on got dentist to look at teeth could not do as reared and tried to get dentist with front feet before he had got its mouth open ie. as soon as touched its muzzle

We had the seller sign to say pickle was viceless on sale did you have anything along those lines?

Was the pony 5* vetted or vetted at all?

Ahhh I see! I hate it when people do this to others! If he reacted like that then perhaps you are on the right track? I always have a vet do my horses teeth, so perhaps you could have him sedated and get his mouth checked out properly? how old is he?

no novet, pony seemed sound, and trusted my own judgement 30 yrs of buying. Now made very suspicious, did not think there were still people out there prepared to put a childs life on the line

have it shot.

have it shot !!!!!! thats a bit harsh if its maybe a back prob or somthing similar,it mite have been badly misstreated, this is sad for the horse and you, although it is no fun owning a horse like this and you feel stuck with it try to stick in there and find problem whilst you still have it !!

Hmmm I think you should have a vet exam done it could be something as simple as not having its wolf teeth removed, I hope it resolves, its terrible that someone would do this...

I think it entirely depends upon how it was described to you and whether those descriptions are verified with someting in writing or by a witness. If this pony is a rearer, then it will be kown as such and so you can probably now find lots of people who will describe it doing the same with the previous owners.
I certainly wouldn't want to spend a penny on the pony if it does end up being valueless. I also agree with you and with the sentiment which RHT has expressed in a somewhat forthright manner... I couldn't pass on a pony, or sell it at a sale if I thought it might go to another child with disasterous results...

Unfortuneatley there are some real b*rstards out there!
Have you tried sedating it to have teeth done? I would try your best to get teeth/back/saddle sorted perhaps giving it to an equine charity might be wise, if it is a mare with hormone problems I would definately have it shot!!

i think its so sad when people sell horses and aren't honest especially when its for a child, its disgusting that they get away with it, they obviously dont have a concious, i wouldn't know what to suggest appart from getting the vet to check it out. good luck with whatever happens.

it may have a bad back. You should try a back clinic. It sounds like it hurts him with the saddle and a person sitting on him. Or it may be his saddle as recently i had my ponies saddle checked and the women said she's suprised she has'nt got a bad back as her saddle was very badly made.
