Reasons for a sore stifle?

Curious as to what the possible causes of a sore stifle could be?
Another term I've come across and am wondering about. Good things to know in the future.

Heavens - there's a long list for a stifle! It's a very complex joint. Strained ligaments probably the most common - can be easy enough to fix - or VERY difficult deending on the ligament/s involved. It's one of the commonest places for OCD, subchondral bone cysts, and then of course there's patellar luxation. That's just a start!

I must admit I was going to say OCD having lost two in a year to it and both showing severe pain in their stifles. But the poster above is certainly correct there are many reasons when you think about it hard.
