Reasons For Bucking???? Help

hey guys

So i have had my 5 year old friesian gelding for over a year now :D And those who have read my posts before know i love him to bits (as we all love them lol)

So any way on monday i got his back checked by the equine back guy and he did a few "adjustments" and i gave him mon and tues off. Wed i rode him walk and trot on both reins and that was all.

Thursday i did the lesson but only flat but when i asked for canter he was grand.
Fri i did another lesson and he did a little bronco thing as i asked for canter on the left rein but only once.
Yesterday i took him out on a walk hack and then went into the school and had a canter round and did trot and some small jumps. and i think every time i asked for canter on both reins he chucked in some pretty impressive bucks
now i am totally confused surely he should be ok :confused:
I got the back guy out for a check over there were no problems as far as i was concerned.

so what should i do now?? was thinking of lunging today to see if he does the same thing on the lunge

It could just be one of those things, hes feeling good, energetic etc.
Or could be more, have you changed tack or anything lately?

He may be sore from back person if they did "adjustments".

I agree, lunge and see what he does throught the transitions there.
 
You know the usual checks, back, teeth, tack.

It could be becuase his back is now in better balence he has changed shape slightly and his saddle now pinches. Much as I love my back guy I wouldn't personally ask his views on the fit of a saddle. He is brilliant at backs. The saddler is good at saddles.

It could be his teeth. As you ask for a slight inside bend to canter you might be catching a sharp point with the bit.

It could be shere exuberance becuase he is feeling well - but you'll know him well enough to know if that is likely.

It could be he had a bit of a temper tantrum over something. He's still young - maybe he just had a Kevin moment and needs to know it isn't acceptable?
 
I have had my horse for just over a year, she was 6 when I got her and had been backed at 5 years old, she had hardly done anything when I got her. She has had all the checks, saddle, back, teeth etc and usually bucks when going into canter (hacking or in the school). She just finds cantering very exciting! The past few months the bucking has become a lot less, now sometimes just a head shake as we go into canter. My instructor has told me to do lots of cantering so eventually she won't find it so exciting.
 
He might just be a bucker (sorry), I have one of those.

As someone else has said, they do get better with age, experience and how often you do 'exciting' things.

Mine is 16 now though, and although we don't have any problems with normal activities, including shows etc., he still does his 'airs above ground' if we go group XC Schooling or on a sponsored ride, and we normally bock our way around the first HT of the season too.
 
thank you all for your comments. His teeth are not due to be done till feb and is seen by the dentist every 6 months.
Saddle is grand not long checked by other people.

he did go through a stage of bucking in canter when i first started with the cantering and i thought we had got through it perhaps i relaxed too soon :D
he is a cheeky monkey and i do try and ride thrugh it so hopefully it is just a kevin :p moment
