This is regarding a friends horse and the vet will be called tomorrow, but wanted to ask on here as there is a lot of knowledge and experience.

Friend has 2 mares in her field. Both are fed the same hay and both get a token feed of fast fibre.

One mare started scouring a few weeks ago. Initially thought it was down to the unseasonably warm weather meaning the grass was still growing. It was literally water and her back legs and tail look terrible. Mare still her usual self, eating and drinking fine. Friend tried pink powder and it seemed to work for a few days but then the scouring returned.

Mare looked to have lost weight out in the field, and when she came in yesterday I had a feel of her and she has lost a lot of weight. Gone from a good 4 condition score to a 2.5. Yesterday she turned her nose up at her feed but heartily tucked into her hay. She is her normal self, still bright and happy and the other mare is 100% fine.

They were both wormed recently and the mare with the scouring had a very thorough worming as per vet instruction.

Vet is being called tomorrow for further advice but just wondered what people's opinions are?

Thanks
