The weather sucks,
I’m usually depressed at this time of year and yet…

I have a reason to be cheerful ??

The chestnut mare I bought as an ‘extra’ is turning 4 (I went to buy one foal, saw this girl and fell in love and came home with 2)

Feet done today, teeth being done on Tuesday and then we get to play properly

Love love love this little miss sassy pants… remind me of this when I have several broken bones and a concussion…

Gorgeous girl …

If you have a reason to be cheerful please spread some light (as I have spent most of the week freezing and lugging water)

I have a 4yo (well, now rising 5) who broke my shoulder back in April. After sending him off for schooling and very carefully riding him again, I have jumped him the last 2 days, he can now have a winter break. Very proud of him and also of me for being brave. He is an utterly fabulous ride - just had a 4yo moment. He's also a totally lovely sweet horse on the ground, I am enjoying having him back. So I am very cheerful. Nice post, thank you - love a chestnut mare and hope she goes well.

I managed my first before-work hack in months this week - only 20 minutes of walk (partly as my back is playing up and partly due to daylight/time) but these days are getting longer!

I’m part of a lovely group who organise clinics among themselves as we all use the same coach.

We’re arranging teams for a two day event later in the year. I’m so happy to be back out eventing after a good 5 year hiatus, albeit at a much lower level. (lame horse who then had a foal then just when she was back fit and up and running after weaning, she had to be pts following a devastating field injury, bought a 3yo, now coming 6yo, from the Irish sales who has not been straightforward to produce) and it’s also SO lovely to be part of a group of people all doing the same things. Bit of a first for me and means a lot as I relocated a couple of hundred miles away a couple of years ago and didn’t know a soul when I first moved. Really put a smile on my face this week.

Said homebred will be 4 and backed later this year too which is also exciting if slightly terrifying.
