OK, due to a breakdown in communications, dogs got fed twice tonight. Not so worried about female as she is on half rations anyway - she has a sore foot and hasn't been out for a proper walk since Friday.

B, however, got double rations tonight (he only gets a tiny bit on mornings when he is training) so three scoops, then half an hour later, two more scoops, as well as all the bits and bobs he got today while training (cheese and liver).

I am now very paranoid about bloat/torsion - he has access to one large bowl of water and it is night time so he won't be bouncing around too much - I was planning half rations in the morning to level it out? Or should I not give him anything?
Anything else I should do?

Thanks in advance!

No, but GSDs are prone to it...I know a few people who have lost fit adult males to it

probs just being paranoid.

Doesn't appear to be in any discomfort, just a bit sleepy

and enjoyed the fussing, he feels full but not blown-up, had had drunk most of his water, but again, that's hard to make a judgement on, he usually does drink a lot on training days...eeep, good overnight vibes!
And Spanish girl is a vet so hopefully she will be able to keep a close eye on him tomorrow.

I think there is hope for you, only time will tell, not sure how reasuring that is, but even as crazy as u are help is available to you (hugs)

Ah...u mean in regard to the dog

I think aslong as he was not exercised for a while b4 hand and he is quiet he should be ok, u should see how much my mam feeds the rescues

inc the large breeds and she should know better

a dead giveaway can be salivating....and trying to vomit, but im sure he will be ok.

We came home at 3.45pm and he has been in the small run since 5.30pm (for his first feed

) so hopefully it will settle on him OK.
He was fast asleep when I went out to him just now, so not pacing or drooling etc.
Thanks to you both

Only just read this Cave - he ought to be absolutely fine if he's been fairly inactive. Dogs will often manage to "find" extra food to eat on top of their normal rations and, although GSDs are one of the breeds prone to bloat, it is unlikely if he wasn't exercised afterwards.

You probably have a progress report anyway this morning?!!

I hope Bodo is fine this morning, sure he will be, just lots of poos. I would just give him a tiny feed this morning rather than not feed at all, then you are not changing his routine too much. We lost a dog with bloat, it is pretty distinctive

You could see him blowing up as you watched him, and it was within 10 minutes of him eating, then as Cayla says lots of drooling and retching but unable to be sick. Sadly our vets at the time did not treat him as they should have (hindsight is a wonderful thing) and although he survived surgery he went downhill afterwards and died the next day.

Hi guys, thanks for checking in, he seems fine this morning, weather has been crap which is good because he would prefer to stay in his box rather than jump around like a lunatic

He got half rations this morning and I am being sent somewhere close to home this morning as opposed to the Big Smoke

so I can keep an eye on him for a bit longer (tooo paranoid....)
