I really want get someting positive, like a new horse, in my life. I'm no rush to buy and I lack funds which doesn't help because looking privatly I can afford exracers, riding school suited horses or veterns. I Would like to borrow a horse to play with and keep me from being in the dumps at home in the mean time if you know of anything. : )

Sports Horses International

There website.

What are peoples experiences with them?

A lady I went with my farrier to shoe had her lovely warmblood from there. Was bit of your normal warmblood hothead but she got this 3year old for 4k when she knew it been sold for 90k as a foal but hadn't grown big enough (only 15'2 and danity) She had brought another horse but it just didn't agree with her home so with no fuss what so ever she was allow credits for what ever horse she wanted and quickly swapped them that morning.
I would rather a cleveland bay or ISH but was just an idea.

Also toying with the idea of going over to Goresbridge horse sales.

Oh any one know the website for problem horses?

Sorry I don't know, quite suprised to read this post so soon (not saying it as an insult) but I do hope whatever happens you find yourself another great horse and it works out for you.

As you know, Joey is here for you if you want; only trouble is we're south Cheshire, so a fair way away!

I do hope you find something but please, don't just jump at the first one you find; take your time and make sure it's right.

Good luck!

To be honest I think you're doing the right thing. I faced the same decision when Sid was put down - I felt guilty to be even thinking about another horse but everyone on here made me realise that having another horse to focus your love and attention can often be the best way of moving on.
I'm sure Dermot would want you to give all the love, attention and wonderful care you gave him to another horse.
Have no idea about the website - although I think some of the horses on it have been on there quite a while..could well be wrong though!
Can imagine they'd be quite pricey though, which isn't ideal if you dont have the funds?

I think it varies When my pony dropped dead I had a new one in just less than 2 weeks. It helped me cope although I am still devestated by the loss a couple of years on.
I would go with what feels right.

I would agree that you need to do whatever feels right for you.

I went through such a range of emotions when I lost Cat, from wanting another horse to wanting to give up riding altogether & everything in between. I don't think there's a 'right' or a 'wrong' - just what you feel you need to do.

QR - damn website - have already PM you.
I would go with whatever feels rights for you, but IMO if you can ride someone elses horse and then save up and look for another horse then you can get exactly what you want. ID x would be good, but then I am biased!

No experience of the websites. But you do what is best for you. I sadly lost my pony of 27 years of ownership in January last year. I got another one 2 weeks later. My new one will never ever take Margos place. And I think it was the lovely partnership that i had with Margo all the time I had her that made me want to have another new "friend" in my life. After I lost Margo my plan was to save up over the rest of winter and summer and start looking around September time. Then saw just what we were looking for age wise, price wise, colour wise and in this area so not travelling too far. We have had a few ups and downs and a youngster is quite hard work but so glad we got her. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

An empty stable is a horrible thing, when our Poppy died we got Amber a month later, not as Pops replacement, but for me to ride as my old girl and Pops best friend had to retire due to old age. We weren't properly looking but I foud Amber on a web site and she seemed perfect and near. She was just what we wanted and three years on we still miss Pop but Amber has created her own place in our lives and the lives of the other horses. Best of luck and the pain at the end is the price we pay for the huge amount of joy and fun we have while they are around. (well that's what I think)

Good for you FMN. Move onwards.

You know you will never replace Dermot but you will love another horse as much.

Take your time and enjoy looking. Ask around locally too and see what might be on your doorstep.

I am glad you are dealing with this so well.

I admire your positive attitude and hope that you are able to find a suitable project. Perhaps worth trying an advert in local saddlers and at events for either a "summer project" or offering help in a yard. Must be some competition yards that would be glad of an extra pair of hands at the moment.

Have been to Goresbridge sales a number of times as a spectator so if you do decide to go I can give you a few "do's and dont's".

Hope you manage to find something.

I no how u feel. mY boy borke his leg in the field and i had another horse bought within two weeks. It jsut happened that way- someone rang me and said come and have a look anyway. I felt terribly guilty like i was replacing him esp when people said to me they were sorry then they found out i had a new one but it wasnt like that and it did take me a long time to not feel bad but it kept me busy.

I didnt like her for about 3 months tho as i kept comparing her to him which agian wasnt fair on her.

But what i wud say is dont feel guilty as everyone said to me not to think that u r replacing him.

Also goresbridge is good to pick up a bargain and such a fun day out .

Amy hasn't even gone yet - but I am frantically (but sensibly

) horse shopping.

Can't bear to be without one either. How about your local free ads?? Some real bargins there.

Good luck - and I am so pleased that you are being positive in this.
