Reccomend a conditioning feed please

Hi all I am looking for a conditioning feed ( that ideally doesnt cost a small fortune) for my 22yo tb x .

Currently fed 1 stubbbs apple chaff
1 1/2 stuff cool mix
Oil, pink powder and equiflex (joint supp for arthritis)

Is out 24/7 now on decent grazing, and has a mix of schooling and hacking
Lacking topline around the hindquarters in particular.

I had incredible results with Winergy equilibrium - my mare put weight on hand over fist on 1/3 of the amount they recommended for her (we were doing a triall for them - so had it all worked out and provided for us)

Its expensive - but worth every penny.
 
Bailey's No.4 Topline Conditioner (or No.17)!
A more general conditioner, that I personally find works great for my two in the summer on good grass, is Bailey's No.14 Lo-cal balancer!
 
I put my boy on Top Spec Cool Condition cubes and Spillers Lite balancer and he looks amazing! He's got a real shine to his coat and topline has definitely improved. I use Spillers balancer as it's the cheapest balancer and the Top Spec cubes at about £12 a bag. The cubes aren't supplemented with vits & mins, hence the balancer, but Pink powder would make it cheaper :)
 
Oat & Barley Free mix-which my boy loves, and when combined with work helps keep his topline really built up- smells gorgeous and isn't overly expensive either. Have also used Spillers conditioning cubes which are great too!

Agree Top Spec cool conditioning mine did fab on that all winter I have three oldies :)
 
Winergy Equilibrium Condition is great but unfortunately mine couldn't eat enough of it to even maintain weight. As it's a chaff type product it's very light in weight (so to speak) and mine would only eat a scoop at a time which wasn't even a kg per meal.

Winergy said this can be a problem & suggested I switch to Spillers Slow Release Energy Cubes, but I tried TopSpec cool condition cubes alongside TopSpec balancer and the difference is amazing. I have also tried Baileys No4 in the past but they fizzed one of mine up as the starch level is quite high.
 
Stuck mine on Baileys No 11 for a while and he blossomed. Have been told it is exactly the same as their number 4 but about £2 cheaper per bag.
 
Before the days of specific conditioning feeds, if we had something that was a particulary poor doer or needed building up we would feed stud or yearling cubes. These worked really well and are a lot cheaper than any feed that has 'conditioning' on the bag.

Yep they are. :) I worked on a yard sponsered by baileys, and they used No.11 as they are exactly the same as No.4 but cheaper, so they got more feed for the money :)

This is really interesting!- I looked up both feeds and the ingredients and levels in them are most definitely exactly the same it would appear!
 
I've started my boy 3 weeks ago on Pure Feeds Conditioning feed....decided yesterday even though I'm feeding half the recommended amount I'm going to have to cut it down even more!!!! It's absolutely fabulous stuff, £12.95 a bag (plus delivery if not near a supplier) and worth every penny!! I'm going to change him down to their working feed next time because it's such good quality he obviously doesn't need condition mix now!!! This is years of feeding Allen & Page C&C and needing to feed the recommended quantity so I'm extreamly impressed!!
 
I have started using veteran vitality by allen and page in last 2 months for my 18yr old and it has worked wonders for him. He looks fantastic on it and has built topline up (along with some work).

Yes virtually according to my brochure - yet one is stated as suitable for horses at rest & the other for horses in intense work!

We need a Baileys rep on here :)
 
Another vote here for A&P Veteran Vitality. My 25yr old lad didnt winter well at all and lost a lot of condition. I took him off his old veteran feed and I stuck him on that and the change is amazing! I also like A&P Calm and Condition.
 
I just love Mollichop Bloom, it has done wonders for my lot, even the oldie. It is alfa and grass with oil and TopSpec added - costs me £9.80 a bag - love it!
