ta

a chambon, just as good and kinder tbh. I cant use the pessoa on my boy, he has to be pessoa'd for his kissing spines but if he gets at all slightly hollow or tense it yanks him in the mouth and he gets really quite upset. the chambon gave me just as good results. and is only about £20

Mark todd "training aid" is what I use - it works and is a lot cheaper! I also had to get one on vets reccomendation - would you PM me why you need it? Dont worry though if you dont want to share! :)

Never used a real Pessoa but i recently brought a copy off eBay for £30 and it appears to be doing the same job. My instructor certainly noticed a difference!

If you are looking for cheap... do you have a roller and elasticated bandages? Dually, running reins or side reins???

Roller on, elasticated bandage on the side, round under the tail but above the hocks (fiddle to get the right tension so it is not too tight but will not fall down) and attach to the side height on the other side. Loose side reins attached to (ideally a dually) onto the bit (start off loose and slowly tighten as your horse becomes used to working this way (over 7-10 sessions and remember not to overtighten them or you end up with a false outline and lots of overbending to avoid the contact). Running reins also mimic the pessoa, attached to the sides of the roller, through the bit and then to the top of the roller... again you can use an elasticated bandage as long as it pulls through smoothly on the bit = it allows for more movement and less jabbing in the mouth.
