I have a 15.1hh hunter type . He loves to play with the other horses in the field which results in him destroying his rugs ! What tough fly rugs are there ? I heard the rambo ones are a special material ?
Reccomend me a tough fly rug please for a rug destroyer

The rug ripper at one yard I work on his on his second season with a shires sweetitch combo. It's brilliant, has stood up to him ragging at himself and really helps with the flies too.

Unfortunately the "cheap and cheerful" fly rugs don't tend to last very long at all. Mine needs a flyrug as he's got sweet itch - and the record for the "cheap and cheerful" variety is half a day 
So worth going the extra and buying something a bit more robust IMO.
Mine wears a Rambo: he's turned out with the mare and whilst they DO have a bit of neck nibbling and stuff, they don't seem to be doing it all that much, so the rug survives.
I donno if this would work....... but you could maybe try putting some Cribbox on the bits where the other horses nibble yours? Yes, I know its mucky horrible stuff, but hopefully it WOULD wash out (eventually???). Just an idea, I've never tried it coz have never needed to.
The Rambo fly rugs are brilliant, do the job and are unsurpassed, BUT if you do think they're a bit too pricey for your budget, then Premier Equine do a very nice (cheaper) range of very serviceable fly rugs. So maybe worth a look? They sometimes have special offers on certain days, so have a look and then lurk, if you see what I mean, until the one you want is reduced.

The Mark Todd or Rambo ones are pretty resilient. Otherwise I agree that sweet itch rugs are normally tougher - but they're quite often thicker so would be warmer on a hot day.

Thicker than a normal fly rug but i have a weatherbeeta dura mesh which has lasted really well on my mare.

If you could find one second hand....
My old Rambo Protector is amazing, totally amazing. I got it about 7 years ago and its still perfect even though its occupants best buddy is a serious rug trasher (other peoples not his own!)
My two newer Rambo protectors are no where near as tough, probably still stronger than your average cheap fly sheet but one in particular is coming apart at the binding after only being used half a summer
