Hi all as above looking for a new pair of everyday riding boots will only be worn for riding and general yard duties ( not mucking out) need something that will fit the slimmer calf, curently I have a pair of Dublin Pinnacle and they fit my calfs with adjustable cord pulled tight....

Reccomend me some new boots :p you lovely H&Hs

HKMs tend to fit skinny calves really well :) I have a pair of 'riding' boots but fancy some 'yard' boots too. I tried the Dublins on and they were ridiculous - far worse than most wellies

Tuffa Suffolk narrower fitting, with velcro straps are good(tho still not quite narrow enough for mine) and are warm inside(sheepskin inner foot area) and durable(for riding&on the yard). Look nice with skinny jeans too! I found the sizing(as in foot size, not calf) came up quite big-maybe go down a half or full size?

Im not sure whether you can still get them, but Mountain Horse high riders!.

Ive had mine since 2002, so they're the older model, but still fab to ride in and look good too.

Thanks for your replies ....I'll take a look at the ones suggested not seen the Tuffa ones, quite like the look of the MH ones....

Rhino - are the HKM leather or more yard looking?

I'm not a fan of the mucker boots more looking for a smart pair of everyday boots ....I'm also a brown boot person ....:D

The ones I have are the smart black 'equi-leather' ones but they do the 'country' type boots too (even in brown) :D

I tried all the above and they were too wide for me.

I have Ariat Glazier boots for yard and hacking and Equitector (which were semi made to measure, but that's standard) for everyday riding and then a pair of Petri made to measure boots for competition.

Otherwise I wear short boots with ariat half chaps - the oxford chaps are narrow.

Even the HKMs? My calves are 11 1/2 inches at the widest point and they are snug on me, no ski socks allowed! :D And what shoe size are you out of interest?

Ha this made me laugh as glad I'm not the only one who wears ski socks :D just bought some heat holder socks 3.5 tog and they are so thick make my boots feel so snugg! Lol :p

I might be mad considering how expensive they are but I tend to do everything in my Ariat Bromonts which are fantastic for skinny legs. They're waterproof and really suprisingly hard wearing!! My last pair lasted a year before the zip broke (my fault) and Ariat replaced them for free so i've continued wearing the new ones for another year

I had some MH high Riders and they were welly-ish on me:( I've got some MH Supreme High Riders tho and they are a much better, more snug fit (& an altogether smarter boot) but perhaps not as suited to everyday use-bit more of a competition boot? OH bought me a pair of De Niros as a big pressie&boy, are they a snug fit! But def,def not an everyday boot:-/

Like Bushbaby,I tend to wear my ariat bromonts everyday,for everything, though....(I have a bit of a boot collection-the horserider's equivalent of hankering after Manolo's & Blahnik's...;-) )

:D I have come to a conclusion my riding boot collection is far more substantial than my going out heels!!

Mine too! Must remember not to line them up on the shoe rack as well - that seems to just highlight to OH quite how many pairs there are.... ;) Seriously tho,if u can get some Ariats to fit, they really are the comfiest to wear all day - I drop kids off at school in them, spend all day on yard in them&collect kids in them in afternoon-never been uncomfortable, had a blister or an ache or strain&often only 'realise' to take them off when about to crash out on sofa at 9pm!!

I second the mountain horse high riders I love mine :-)
me too sometimes the kids boots will fit adult which helps with price :D
Just orderd some ariat grassmere for slim calf bargain of ebay £148 normally £225 so maybe they are changing styles soon.

Oooo that's a bargain ....! :)

That's a fab tip about kids although I have slightly large feet so can't get away with that wish I could!
