As I am currently waiting for a call from the vet so am stuck at home and I have a move to essex looming in a few weeks I thought I would ask for some recomendations.

So I am moving to near chelmsford and I'm looking for a farrier that will trim my boy. I am lucky where I am as my current farrier is completly for him not having shoes on as he copes fine with all the work he does so I'm looking for a someone with a similar attitude down there.

Also looking for a vet, fingers crossed that the vet finds nothing serious today so there will be no long term issues, just looking for a vet that comes with a good recomendation. Again we are spoilt for choice where I am with so many vets with a very good reputation and referal centers all within a short traveling distance .

The dentist comes from essex any way so thats him sorted .

Any one else that can be recomended to use near by would also be appreciated :D.

I hate moving to somewhere that I dont have a clue about, its so hard to find reliable people so as I dont know any one down there HHO is called again :p;).

Thanks guys cookies and chocolate biccys on offer is you got this far :)

For a vet I would recommend David Platt (from Platt & Murrell) and for a farrier we use Cameron Sharps who is excellent.

Good luck

I moved to Chelmsford from Berkshire 3 months ago & I agree its so daunting moving to a new area!
I have registered my boy at House & Jackson vets (they are based over near Norton Heath but I believe they have more than 1 branch) & I trim my boy myself (he gets seen about once a year just to get the farrier to look & I will probably use whoever is at the yard when he needs it)
Good luck with the move!

SNAP!!! Cameron does the shoeing for another vet, kind and patient aswell. David is a friendly vet, knows his stuff and will happily talk to you indepth about any queries about horse, treatment, etc.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys :D
I now have lots to look in to while I'm waiting and chocolate goodies to all of you :D

I use Ivy Lodge Vets (Gerry Cashin) and have done for over 20yrs, he is amazing but i am not sure if he is taking anyone else on.
Oak Equine are also very very good - i have used them a few times in emergencies.
As for farriers, i use Lloyd Cotter who is great, but there are loads in Essex so you will probably be able to find someone more local to Chelmsford (i am in Brentwood)
I haven't heard to many horror stories about Essex farriers and Vets, so i am sure you will find someone good to suit you and your horse :)

Another vote for Cameron! I use blaircourt vets in Woodham ferrers close to Chelmsford. There's also Clarendon house vets in Chelmsford that's ment to have a gd name too, I use the physio from there.

Thanks guys :D
Cameron sounds like the person to try, would someone send me his number so I can give him a call?
Will look in to all the vets and see which one is closest :)

ETA - just got in from the vet was good news :D
