Our mounting block ans collapsed at our livery yard and at the moment are using a bucket !- not good.

So I have been tasked with finding a replacement so could you please let me know what you like, why, how much and where purchased from.

Many Thanks

I have a mounting block made from breeze blocks round by the stables, but I have a Stubbs (I think) one that I use when I get on out from the stables - and it is great to tuck in the lorry when we go out.

I have a plastic mounting block that I use around the yard and its great to take on the lorry. Its sturdy, strong and a good height. I got it from eileen douglas tack shop and it was about 20 something pounds. Which I thought was quite alot for a mounting block but it has been worth it because my pony was tied up next to it and stood on it with both front feet. Amazingly it held but I've always made sure that he's nowhere near it ever again. So probably well worth the money as I think with a lot of them he would have gone right through it and I hate to think what migh thave happened.

Sorry ,no, it was so long ago that we bought this one.It was used for RDA for 10 years and then we built a brick walk through one and I bought it off them.I think you would have to email or phone them.

Thanks, they do look fab. I need one to get on my 17hh and at the moment I have a small mounting block with two wide buckets wedged on top, I'd love something a bit more substantial!

I bought a martello plastics one for my mum a few years ago, and it was about £170 I think. She has now given up riding, but the block is now being used around the garden for many an activity (

) and I can see it lasting for many more years. They are very stable and safe to use, worth the money

Concrete blocks are a lot cheaper! lol! but not so easy to move around. The martello ones are pricy I agree - the one I got for Mum is designed so you can get 2 helpers and the disabled person on the block at the same time. I wouldn't be surprised if the horse wouldn't fit on there as well

I thought it was safer than her mouldy old tree stump with chicken wire stapled to the top

My OH built me one out of Timber and then decked the treads!! It worked out much cheaper then buying ones from 'horsey shops' (it seems that if it is used for a horse, triple its actual worth!!), and he measured from my stirrup to work out what the perfect height for me would be!! (that was when I had a 16.2, spooks is 2 hands shorter, so I just kind of lower myself onto him now!!

Robinsons do a very robust heavy duty plastic one with 2 steps. Rope handle for carting it about. Solid as a rock. Choice of colours I think. I bought a raspberry one but that's coz I had a childhood devoid of pink glittery things so I have to do it now!
