Hi - hope you can help. My boy has a dodgy front foot -he was born with it. BeforecI got him, he was unshod, but once I upped his work he struggled with the work on his dodgy foot. Vet did checks, x-ray etc, and recommended having him shod. This was OK, but if I was a dog late in shoeing he came up short on that foot, and after a shoeing he was short for about a week.
Due to yard move, have changed Farriers. New farrier is great - the first farrier who actually trots up before doing any work to see how the foot falls. However, he is doing remedial work on that foot, and although I understand what he is tryingvto do, horse is lame.
So, I was wondering if a specialist trimmer could give some advice.
Must add, the horse is under vet advice. No signs in x-ray of any side bone/arthritic change/or other issues. Horse is 19, so changing the way he walks is slightly uncomfortable for me. But I would like him sound, in walk, trot and canter - but if this isn't possible would like to know the options
