Hello,

I have a fab ID gelding who is a bit large in the head department!!! He is full size everywhere apart from xfull in the browband and noseband. He isn't long in the face, if that makes sense - just very deep through the jaw. I would imagine he's quite similar to a big warmblood.

I have 2 problems, 1 he is a potentially a mix of sizes and 2 I need a comfort headpiece as that's what he's always had, I don't want to mess with what works.

Thanks in advance!!!

Depends on your budget, but I used an Elevator bridle on my large ID :) They will also mix and match the sizes of each part for you.

My chap is exactly the same as yours and went for a made to measure from Wolds Exclusive Bling. Depends how much you have to spend. The other option is Albion they supply different sized bridle parts to custom yours. Another option is to ask a local saddle maker to make one for you. Everything else off the peg just did not fit mine.

I use a Sabre x-full on mine, who is also full apart from brow and noseband. But the xf has enough holes to go small enough on the rest. You may find the same with others?

Go to a good saddler who can make a bridle up for you as required.

Annaghmore saddlery www.walkontroton.com did a hunter bridle in a mix of pony and cob sizes for my new connie which was £60 without reins. I phoned and discussed what I wanted, and was very pleased with the result.
