Ok so i had my heart set on a weimaraner, however OH thinks they might be just abit too big.

So similar too a weimaraner, short hair pref, will have lots of exercise, and will be going to training classes. Ive looked on net, but would like owners experiences of similar doggies!

Thanks.

German shorthaired pointer OR Vizla!

I've got a GSP, she's a bit mental and demanding but she's such a sweetie, really affectionate and great with kids/other dogs ect. If you want an easy dog then a GSP may not be the dog for you, but if you want a fun dog then they are!

Vizla's are supposed to be a bit less strong minded apparently.

Are you getting a puppy?

German Shepherds for us, get on great with horses if brought up with them, very biddable and keen to learn yet happy to sleep all day / evening in front of the Agar

Im interested in all thos dogs you've all mentioned. We would love a pup, otherwise id be interested in you lovely Rotty, as i saw youre thread. Will ask Oh if he might consider her tho, as we defo want a bitch.

How much smaller are Vislas, and short haired pointers?

I have two friends with Vizlas and I'm pretty sold on them. They are definately smaller than Weimeraners and I believe easier to train etc. One of them is very sweet but a complete fruit loop, think she has a few separation anxiety problems but the other one is absolutely adorable and very well behaved.

Thank you for that info, just they are similar in looks to weimaraners but all the height guides seem too put them slightly smaller?

How do they compare to Weimaraner temperament wise??

Not sure but quite a bit I think. I think mine (Star) is a bit of a moose for a girl because most bitches I've seen are quite small. Star is about 4 stone.

Here are some piccies!!

i know someone who's had a weimy and now has pointers and she says pointers are much easier than weimys.

then everyone says Vizla's are a lot easier than pointers!!

I want a Wirehaired Vizla next, like Yeppa on crufts laft year!

I don't have personal experience so just going by friends who have had both and I think they are similar temperament wise but the vizlas are easier to train and not quite so wild! One of my friends who has a vizla said her husband had a weimeraner before and he finds their vizla much easier. They also have also just had a little baby and she is brilliant with him.
