Recommend a good hunt to perk a horse up?

Further to my post below, I have been draghunting my chestnut to try and encourage him to attack his fences a little more as he is naturally careful and cautious. I would really like to take him for one or days of hunting in really bold country - he's got quite a lot of jump, just need to jolly him up a little. Can anyone recommend a suitable hunt? Something a little similar to the drag would be good as he can get fidgety if there is too much stopping and starting.

We are Cambridge-based but would go a couple of hours for a decent day. I think OH is going to hunt him as he is a little stronger than I am so the brakes shouldn't be an issue.

Not my part of the world but I would've thought maybe the Quorn?

Suggest you ring the relevant secretary as they'll be able to tell you which meets would be best.

Any of the Leicestershire Vale packs - a bit further away but maybe Blackmore & Sparkford Vale if you're feeling like some hedges..... ;)

Kit I would head up the way the CUDH do if I were you and try the Fernie or Cottesmore country.

As was suggested above I would speak to the relevant secretaries (via websites) but to give you an idea the Fernie country round Illston has some good hedges and anywhere on what the Cottesmore call "The Playground" which is where the Melton Hunt Race is competed every third year.

Here's a Cottesmore hedge I found: http://bit.ly/ID2Qq

Thanks Springback - unfortunately a little bird told me that since Bruce left, CUDH aren't going to be hunting up that way anymore :( I shall have to get in touch with their local hunts instead.

Yes I've just looked at the Meet list on the CUDH site and it has changed a lot in the last few weeks, omitting all of those meets including the Milton one. How strange.

I was under the impression that one of the Masters was from that neck of the woods too so I'm quite amazed. They must be keen to save diesel :D
