I’ve got these. They zip up from the bottom to the top, then you clip the top stud to finish.
Quite a lot of makes zip down from the top, which wouldn’t suit my dodgy back at all. The very helpful assistant at Hope Valley Saddlery helped me try on quite a few different styles before I settled on these.

ETA I use the Tredstep half chaps with my Ariat short boots. I didn’t get on with Ariat half chaps.
Also the stretchy leather on the Tredsteps means that the fit on your calf needs to be very tight when new, then the leather soon gives to your shape.
The above ones are the ones I have. I changed at one point as someone told me they were technically a half-chap as opposed to a gaiter (I think because the zip is at the side?) and shouldn't be used for dressage. I changed to Ariat, but they were not half as nice.
I have gone back to these, the leather is quite compliant round your contours. The last lot lasted for ages too, and yes, I prefer the zip this way round! I really don't think anyone would object for dressage as they are quite smart. If they did, they would be a real jobsworth!
