Following on from my thread a bit earlier about the mould issues I have decided to try and fight for a refund. I've lost complete faith in the IFW brand to supply a new trailer fit for purposed and of good quality.

Therefore I need to look for a new trailer - same spec as the IFW 506, with front unload for around £4,500 new. Any recommendations ?

Thanks

I LOVE mine

Bateson, loved it even though people used to gawk at the rear doors, horses never had a problem stepping in and never had a problem with ours in the 8 years we had it

Another vote for Richardson. Had two over a 20 year period. NO problems ever and sold both for about what I paid for them. Just bought a lorry.

We've got a Rice trailer with living - great towing, very stable, and you get to make tea too!! Takes 2 17.2 easily. I don't know how much they are new but they seem to hold their value in the 2nd hand market. We're gonnna be selling it at some point so I'll be able to confirm that

I went to a trailer dealer as he had the 3 trailers in that I wanted. Cheval Liberty, Ifor and Bateson. The Cheval looks gorgeous from the outside butttttt.... I had a good look inside, out and underneath, and the quality wasn't a patch on the the other two. No need to explain why I didn't like the Ifor. The Bateson is amazing! Bought Bateson Ascot with Barn doors and absolutely love it. Worth every penny. Another plus side is the Bateson front ramp opens to the path side of the road. So in case of break downs, it's the safer option when having to unload on a side of a road! xx

They really do. I think the white / pale paintwork inside makes it seem much more spacious,
the front ramp is on the left side so much better if you have to unload on the side of the road as its away from the traffic

Oh I never thought of that before about the unloading side.
What a sensible idea!!

There is also Wessex trailers who are based in dorset...... They have big range and they also do the 'Pegasus ' range which is a more coachbuit style trailer.
If you are buying a secondhand Equitrek, then you must look out for any damp or rot in the sides.... particlarly around the windows.

a vote for wessex from me. We were looking for pretty much the same as you - better quality than the new IFW but for IFW price. We now have a wessex olympian on order. Spent absolutly ages looking around and reading up on all the makes and I think the wessex offers really good value and quality for money. Seems really solidly built, less rattles than many! A more modern suspension then IFW, really nice padded sides, the design and light top makes it more inviting to load and brighter inside. Liked the richardson, but seems to have a really basic spec, to have the things we want it would bring it up to pretty much rice price - way over our budget!

You are probably best off looking at the Richardson and the Bateson.
The only thing I wouldn't consider is a Wessex, I'd rather have a mouldy IW than a Wessex.
