Recommend me a farrier? Ceredigion

Does anyone recommend a good farrier who will cover the Llanrhystud area?

Most people I know round here use one of two farriers, but I'm not overly happy with using either for various reasons so hoping to hear some positive recommendations before I start phoning around.

When i lived in llanilar i used a guy called dorian who was more expensive than others but better. Sorry cant remember his surname. The standard of farrier there is poor though much higher here in Scotland!

Anyone else? Not in a position to move house and horse in search of better farriers!
 
Im interested in any opinions too my girl has been barefoot but hope to put shoes on her for the summer. We had an excellent farrier in scotland too!!
 
What I was at uni there I used a really nice guy called Dorian - not too bad looking either!!! (That was 8 years ago though!!)
 
You could try Chris Harris & see if he will travel up to you, im not sure how far he goes, hes Llandysul based. Ive heard some good things about him, though i dont use him myself as ive been with my own farrier for years & im very happy with him (hes not taking any new customers on & doesnt travel as far as you, so not point in suggesting him lol).
Daniel Thomas from Nebo way is meant to be very good, so ive heard.
 
Have you tried Dylan Davies? He's the only farrier I will use as the last one who came to the yard made my boy lame. If you need remedial showing Chris Powell is supposed to be good although have never used him myself.
 
Im pretty sure Dorian moved away. And he wouldnt come any further south than llanfarian when i asked him. Although this was 2 years ago so things may have changed. Im so glad mine are all barefoor now!
 
Has anyone used john davies? A friend has mentioned him. And who trims your barefoot horses, a farrier or just a trimmer?
 
John Davies is rough with the horses and bangs on any old shoes as quick as he can, he will put on mismatching or the wrong shoes, eg front shoes with two clips just because that is what he has left in the van, then he makes up some nonsense about why he has done it.
In addition he is unreliable, and spreads malicious gossip about his customers or anyone else who is around.
