I'm a bit overwhelmed by the variety of different fly rugs on the market! Could you please let me know what you use and why? I need it for my black mare who gets very hot and bleached by the sun so I suppose the UV reflection is one of the most important features for her. She also rubs easily so probably looking at the silkier materials. I have up to sixty pounds to spend.

Thank you very much!

Mark Todd Combo, both of mine have them and there is a little cob on the yard who is clipped all year and gets sunburn on his pink bits and wore one for the 1st time last year and didn't burn at all. They fit really well and have silky lined shoulders and neck and didn't rub at all last year. Joes has done 2 years now and apart from the back seam fraying after getting damaged in the washing machine it is still fine. They wash up really well and dry quickly.

I have the Mark Todd one without a neck, which is nice. It is nicely made and doesn't rub (has silky lining on the shoulders), and is quite a generous size.

My friend just got the Amigo one with a detachable neck. It's a lovely rug, and has a lot of attention to detail. It has silky lining on the inside of the neck and I think the shoulders too. If Amigos fitted my horse I would get one of these.

Think they were around £40 each.

Mark Todd combo again. Fits the Nitty one beautifully. The elastic in the neck means it still reaches her ears when she grazes and doesn't pull tight round her throat too. And the belly pad on it is ace because that fits on elastic too.

BH has a shires one and it doesn't fit him well at all. I'll be changing him to the mark todd too this year.
