OK, maybe I'm a bit quick off the mark given the pants weather but we did see some sunshine here this afternoon. Is there any fly spray you recommend for the summer months (when they arrive) or do you make you own? The boy is already fed garlic but I'm considering fly repellant options.

:)

Avon SSS bath oil in the green bottle.
Dilute down. Wicked stuff and only £5 a bottle which lasts ages!!!

Ooh, now I remember! I bought some of that last year when I went hiking in Scotland. Will have to dig it out. :)

ETA: how much do you dilute it down, just slosh it in some water or is there a science? :)

We've been dabbling with a new concoction of diluted TCP, cold tea and washing up liquid. Smells vile so hopefully it'll keep the flies off but a bit too early in the season to say how effective its going to be.

I made a concotion of Dettol, citronella and tea tree, it works really well. I did use tea at first but found out it stains!! especially on the grey bits lol so i swapped it for dettol instead.

I make my own, and it works a treat!
1 teaspoon of washing up liquid,
2 tablespoons meths
15 mls citronella oil
4 tablespoons vinegar
1 mug of strong tea
mix together, top up with 2 litres of cold water.
Quick tip, always put washing up liquid in last or it goes very bubbly.
I just put mine in a sprayer you can by from b&q.
oils4life is a good website for the citronella
Works out about 88p for 2 litres of fly spray.
