Hello All

I am wanting to buy a decent dressage girth for my over sensitive warmblood. We have quite major girthing issues (which are really improving) but I am needing a girth with an attachment for martingale/running reins etc as threading these over the girth is not ideal and I want to buy the right one for him in terms of comfort/feel plus no risk of slipping!

A number of people have said about a leather girth with sheepskin underside but am really after people's experiences and recommendations.

Thank you in advance.

I had major girth problems with my mare a few years ago. She kept getting girth galls (I even spent £1200 on a new saddle to be fitted) and tried them all.

I now use Stubben Trevira girths and swear by them. My mare has never had any problems from the day i used these. I wash them in the machine.

They are amazing and would never have anything else. The best piece of kit I have bought. you tend to have to get them online.

That is my recommendation but every horse is different :rolleyes:

Hi there,

My WB mare is terribly girthy and it got to the point where she was actually kicking out when I touched it (very uncharacteristic behaviour for her) my RI reckoned that my fabric girth was catching her hair so she recommended I bought this wintec one;

I hope the link works!! Since I have been using it she has been much better and its really grippy. I am a bit funny with girths and HATE slippy ones. I previously bought the airborn humane girth and i found it was awfully narrow and just so so slippy. It all depends on the horse but I find the wintec one fantastic. Its slightly elasticated but unlike the aerborn one you arent CONSTANTLY having to check it! :D

ETA: Sorry just realised u are after a dressage one. Im sure wintec will do one of those also

Thank you all for the replies (and to Spyda for bumping :) ).

I currently use a Wintec dressage girth and he is just not happy with it. I don't know wy as it is quite wide and doesn't slip as you say but he just has a melt down when I do it up. I know it feels different girthing up a jumping saddle but I have a leather girth on that and he is generally a lot better with that than the dressage girth (although he is sensitive enough to be able to tell the difference the second I put them on his back!)

Will have a look at the Stubben and Humane girth options - thank you.
