I need a second 6'6 no-fill turnout rug for my filly. I've got an old Rhino rug I use for her main lightweight one, but last night she pulled it down off the stable wall (where it was hanging, like it always does over night ) and pee'd on it. So... today she's out in her 200g Tristar as it's the next lightest alternative I have and I'm thinking I'd better get her a cheap second one for back-up.

Can anyone recommend the cheapest WATERPROOF & BREATHABLE summer turnout rug please!! :)

Most of the horses on our yard last summer ended up in Amigo LW TOs. Our local tackshop was selling them for £35 which I thought was pretty good for a well made rug. Would def recommend one if you can find them.

Another vote for amigo. I think they're fab. Put new one (rainsheet) on Lady yesterday, she got absoloutely ditches, so i hosed the rug down when it was still on her, and she was still totally dry under neath :p Rideaway have them for £37 I think, and delivered in 3 days.

I used to be a weatherbeeta girl but im a total Amigo convert!! I am going to treat both mine to a LW amigo after using the medium ones for awhile i think they are cracking rugs.

I must add, she's out with 2 big, bolshy colts and the three of them romp about together and gallop about a lot. Whatever I get needs to be tough and airy for those wet days when she's not wearing Rambo Fly Buster. I've found the linings of rugs with the cheap cotton linings tend to end up ripped within days. I guess the outer rug gets pulled and the lining just rips under the pressure. The nylon lined rugs seem to withstand that better. :)

My LW turnout is a Mark Todd one and its really good. No leakage and i've had it a year. I love the colour its a really nice blue check. The old LW I had before it was a Derby House one and it leaked within a month of use. Such poor quality.

I've had the Mark Todd l/w turnout for four years now. Only had it cleaned and reproofed once and its still going strong. No rips or tears, it has the easy clip buckles and is still waterproof. My mare has never sweated under it. Would thoroughly recommend the Mark Todd rugs, they are not the cheapest but you do get what you pay for. A girl at my yard has the Amigo, but I think they come up a bit tight in the chest if you have a stockier type horse. (Just thought, the JHL range is very similar to Mark Todd, but cheaper, girl at tack shop told me they were made in same factory at MT).

JHL are def made by Mark Todd. I used the Amigo lightweight t/o last year and the year before. Its washed and re-proofed up like new each year and still as good as new. Got from Throstle Nest Saddlery at Barnsley for £29.50 and worth every penny.

love my amigo - got it free when subscribed to a magazine (think was horse?) it on its third yr and still going strong.
