both were the shires bucket type ones, to be fair the first one just fell apart, but apparently he has 'killed' the current one which he has only had a week! I had a text from YM to say it had died, but i've yet to see it

I know they are only £15 but I can't keep buying them

Don't suggest greenguard though, tried that last year and he just munched round the side or broke the straps

It must also be one that is safe in the field.

Thanks

You can occasionally find, in the sort of tack shops that get really old-fashioned random things in, the old plastic bucket kind. They're really hard compared to modern ones, but I'd imagine they'd be a lot tougher than the shires ones.

beyond that I can't think of any other style

I know you said not to recommend the Greenguard one, but I'm going too!!! They have changed the design (corners now filled in), so they can't graze round the sides. Sparks has the new style and it is so much better (she also grazed round the old style), it also always more grazing access than the bucket type, which is needed for bigger horses IMO (though I prefer the bucket type for ponies).

I borrowed a greenguard when I tried it last year and it was the old design, but I have just looked them up on the internet and see what you mean about the new design, but the price

what is that about for a piece of plastic! Also the headcollar doesn't appear to be field safe, or am I wrong?

Our Section A has the old fashioned bucket one, she has decided she cannot graze at all when it is on so just runs with the herd and looks forward to teatime when it comes off. We have learnt that putting her little cheap leather headcollar over it stops her from getting it off.

I don't really like her being in it but if it means the difference between getting lammi and not, well of course it is worth it.
